So I get the best of both worlds-- I have three days at home and four days at work. and on Mondays I'm home all alone with LMW (Wagon Jr. goes to daycare all 5 days). I absolutely love it! I do feel like I spend too little time with LMW but I really cherish each moment with her. I was miserable as a SAHM... I'm just not built for it. By the time Wagon Jr. was 1, we had a schedule and went to classes and playdates every day, but I really struggled the entire time. But, there are days I would loveeee to SAH! There are days I hate dropping off at daycare when he is being cute and sweet, or when he is sick and I know he's better off with me at home. I feel like I could feed him more and better since he is EBF if I were a SAHM. I love working and love my job and independence it gives me though. I worked in the President's office as an administrative assistant, or close as I could be without actually being fully hired by the university. I've never been much of a fan of daycare (the experience or the cost) so I'd prefer to stay home with my baby over the alternative. </p> <p>I have a few SAHM friends who are local and some of my close family members don't work so I imagine I'll have loads of adult interaction. Probably because I like the people I work with, I like my job, and I have a great manager. My job offers me a lot of flexibility so I can WFH a few times a week too. If I had a different job that I dreaded then that would be a different story. I do also like bringing home income and knowing I can support our family if anything were to ever happen to DH.</p> <p>As much as I love my LO, I think if I was a SAHM 24/7 I would go bonkers. Our lifestyle may be grander if I worked but I think our quality of life would be greatly diminished. Socialization, educational enrichment, my DD gets all that through all of the playgroups and other activities we participate in. As for housework, DH and I split it 50-50. I love staying at home for the most part. But I do get a grown up day a week at work and work from home in evenings and weekends. We are able to keep our heads above water with me bringing in 20 hours a week, but have to be cautious financially.</p> <p>This is perfect for me, being at work keeps me creative, but being home gives me the flexibility of schedule too.
