I would be fine with either but we don't live near our hometowns. So a private Christian preschool-12 school near us is likely. DH went to a military academy so it was free but he had to do 6 years of service afterwards (granted it was well paying automatic job opportunities straight out of school). I went to a $$$ private liberal arts college but got almost all of it paid with scholarships. Would be fine with either but I wouldn't want our kids in combat situations. DH was never in a dangerous war zone situation but he was lucky. I heard that the HS started going downhill in the past few years. Too bad because it used to churn out a lot of high achievers.</p> <p>My 2 universities would be amazing academically but I didn't particularly enjoy my experience. I had a great experience there, but I hear that it has some more problems now. Still, I would like to send any future LO there, but we'll have to do more research when/if the time comes. I feel pretty strongly about public school, but DH leans toward private, so there are a lot of long discussions in our future.</p> <p>The private school that I went to for 6-12th grades is great, but I had a pretty lousy time there. High school is a different story - ours (DH and I went to the same h.s.) is pretty bad so we'll look into choicing in to other high schools. Our high school isn't our neighborhood h.s. anyway.<br /> College is different. DS can attend anywhere he wishes. DH went in-state and I went out of state. Well, if I could afford it, just looked up current tuition, lower grades are $19,600 &amp; then middle is $21,900. I'd love to send them there, it was such a wonderful experience, but it'll never happen :(</p> <p>Middle- yes. I started public school in the middle of middle school, it's one of the best in the state, my dad teaches there now, so I guess that could be weird, but it's a great school. </p> <p>High school- yes! They changed it so all the same grade is in the same school and some elementary grades are in the junior high and junior high grades are now in the high school. It's so messed up. Though, DH would prefer that our kids go to his hometown school district. I think we would have to move &amp; find a job in that area first before we start talking about that, but it was an interesting discussion to have with the DH. He thinks his school district was better than mine.... Yeah, gotta pull up ratings to see who is right. IF we were able to get back to our hometowns (which are 15 minutes apart), I think both would be good schools for our LOs to attend. Some of the best downstate schools. I'd love to send our kids to my small, liberal arts college, but it depends what they want to major in/do. There are definitely things that would be better at one of the state school. My husband is a 3 rd gen alum at one of the state schools and my kids have worn orange and blue since they were born, so they may be headed that direction instead.
