@yellowbird: I agree. I had this with a dentist I had been seeing. He did a few fix appointments for free before finally getting it right, but due to that issue and his high cost, I found someone else I liked better and that was much more cost effective. I'd say let her have a chance to correct it, but don't feel bad about trying out another dentist for a cleaning and exam next time.

This has just happened to me, actually. Pregnancy did a number on my teeth and I needed a few fillings and the biggest one had to be redone. Even after that, flossing hurt and it was still sensitive to chew but I put off going back because I don't have any childcare and LO screamed all the way through my last appointment. Anyway, I ended up going back on Saturday and they reshaped it a bit, smoothed away the rough edges and it does feel better although I have a bit of an ache there tonight. It's made me think about switching dentists too

@HolisticMama: after reading that paragraph I'm almost positive that he is using composite resin, like 99 percent of dentists do today.

I am not opposed to silver fillings in the right circumstance, but most dentists use them sparingly these days. Also, I would hope any dentist would allow you the choice between amalgam and composite.

Sensitivity after a filling is normal up to 2-3 months, especially if it was deep decay. Pain on biting often means it is too high and may need adjusted. Throbbing, spontaneous pain may indicate pulp (nerve) degeneration. Other types of pain may indicate fracture. It is really specific why the OPs teeth still hurt

I would give the dentist another chance to look at your tooth a address your concerns!

I would switch! Not to scare you but the only time that ever happened to me it was a bad filling ...it got infected... had a root canal! I found a guy I like and he is not covered by insurance and costs a fortune but it is worth it to me. I can tell you more horror stories!

@yellowbird: He's into Biomimetic Dentistry. It's pretty interesting.
http://www.academylaserdentist.com/services-provided/

Initially I found him because I was looking for a mercury free dentist: http://www.westonaprice.org/dentistry/guide-to-holistic-dentistry

;) I'm turning into a bit of a hippy.

In a heart beat. There are so many wonderful dentists out there.
I've been bouncing around with dentists and have finally found someone that I adore. He's really holistic and uses real quality materials.

I'm sorry that your teeth are hurting. :(

DH and I starting going to a new dentist last year, and we like her flexible hours, however late last year she fixed cavities for us and even though it's been months we still gave sensitivity to the point that I can hardly chew on one side and DH is the same. I gave had cavities done before and never experienced this. When I asked her about it she said well sometimes it takes longer for the sensitivity to go away, but it's been months. Has this happened to anyone?
