If you're close enough with the hosts or the mom to be is involved, ask them if it would be "baby friendly." Both of mine CERTAINLY were- they were BBQ style since we have lots of kids in our family and wanted them there. If it's fancier or at a restaurant etc, it might not be appropriate. LO is 6 months and is a bit past the point of sitting quietly or sleeping through an event. She wants to be held and interacted with and can be quite noisy! I'd just worry there'd be a lot of attention on LO.
