umm... no. And I would have a hard time being okay with DH going. Recovery was no joke.

yeah I could barely stand up straight 4 days after the baby was born and definitely wasnt in the mood to go to the movies. I also think movies at the theatre are too loud for a newborn baby. My hospital and pediatrician advised me not to take my baby out to crowded places like malls and movie theatres for atleast the first 6 weeks especially these days with the whooping cough making a come back.

No way, no how, nobody going nowhere. I'm not clear on what the actual event is- I wouldn't have taken LO to a movie simply because of the noise levels, and there's no way I'd have wanted to sit through a movie while I was bleeding (and remember, no tampons, so you're just sitting in it and using massive pads), you may well be super sore, and you're going to need to be feeding the baby for half that time anyhow (especially tough if you're breastfeeding... no way I could've done it even remotely discreetly in the dark at that point).
Also, at that point, I was a mess- and while it was one thing to have people over, I'd have been stressed if I felt like I needed to be showered and dressed decently and looking not-crazy for an event.
I honestly also wouldn't have let DH go, unless someone else was available to be with me. That first week or two is intense; if you're BFing, that can seriously take ten hours of your day right there, plus you're sore and exhausted. (Or at least I was).
We weren't total hermits- we had family in town as soon as LO was born, and I think our first non-medical outing was to a restaurant a week after LO was born, but I would not have wanted to be tied to a scheduled event where I'd have to spend time getting ready, leave by a certain time (at that point, BFing was hard, and I would NOT have wanted to interrupt a feeding session to have to leave), not feeling like I could leave whenever I wanted, having to be out for a longer period of time, etc.
If my DH had something he was super excited about and I was feeling magnanimous, I'd tell him to go and find a babysitter for me and LO, but I also feel like those first couple weeks are extra hard, and it's not the end of the world for him to get stuck with me helping out at home and forgoing other stuff.

I went to a movie with DH and Sawyer within the first 2 weeks postpatrum. It was so nice to get out of the house, and Sawyer slept through pretty much the whole outing.

I wouldn't take Lo. If you're feeling up for it, I would get a sitter or just have your husband go with a friend.

I was just leaving the hospital after 4 days, there is no way I could have gone to an event. Even after 9 days, I wouldn't have been able to. I had really heavy bleeding and there was no way I could have managed it.

I would totally go and take the baby, but I also had super easy recoveries. I went bowling with DS when he was 5 days old, so going to a movie theater would've been no big deal.

Maybe you can buy the tickets for the two of you, and decide that day whether you'll actually attend or not? Maybe DH can find a friend to take your place if you're not feeling up to it the day of?

DH wants us to attend an event being held at a movie theater where there are two showings either 4 or 9 days after my due date. Because this event has sold out in the past he wants to order the tickets soon.
