If it was DH in the hospital, then I would take her as long as germ exposure to other patients would be to a minimum. And not if DH had something that she would catch, obviously.

I would take her. I would maybe not take her if it was someone not particularly close/in the family, but for immediately family, and for her daddy, you are right to take her!

DS was about 6 months old when we took him with us to the hospital to visit FIL after he had a heart attack. They didn't say anything to us when we went and FIL hadn't had surgery yet. But it totally made his day and gave him a much needed reminder that he needed to have the surgery, and be positive. He's had other health issues, so at times he gets really depressed.

@eeh: We've already made lots of visits, just wanted to see other's opinions on the subject. We always go after her nap, and since it takes so long to get there we only have a short time before we have to get home for her next nap. But DH is always tired so I don't feel so bad for not staying long. And DH is crazy about hospital germs, if she accidentally touches a chair he goes crazy and makes me wipe her hand.

I would take her. I would of course not let her crawl around on the floor and chew on things but going for a short visit would be great for both her and daddy. Try to avoid going when you know he'll be eating and take her when she's rested and well fed so you don't have to deal with those issues while you're there. Also, try to time it so you're not there when doctors are trying to make rounds and you need to be listening to that information. A quick visit should be stress free. You can always leave if you need to. Or take someone else with you who can leave with LO when she's showing she's done with the visit.

DH has been in the hospital for almost a week now. Before he had his surgery we asked the pediatrician what he thought about LO visiting and he said it would be great to have her go see her daddy. DH is in a private room, and with the doctor's ok I decided to go ahead and do it. It does make me a little uneasy, but I would hate to keep them apart for such a long time if I don't have to.
