Yes, I plan to throw myself an anniversary party at the 10 year mark. We most likely will not renew vows and have a ceremony. I imagine a photo display or short video and maybe a public exchange of anniversary gifts.

People throw their own weddings all the time. I don't see a difference when it comes to anniversary parties. The couple wants to celebrate their love with friends and family they love

@Adira: @Dandelion: we have a HUGE backyard that I want to throw outdoor dinner parties! hahaha If I can convince DH I want to do a 10 year vow renewal outdoor reception.

@pui: I really doubt anyone in our families are that considerate. :(

@mediagirl: I think next summer when most renovations are done we are going to have a party and invite all that helped us in our renovation. A "thank you for helping us renovate our home" party! hahaha

I wouldn't throw myself a birthday party so I don't think I would throw myself an anniversary party. I think I would find some other excuse to have a party like, "We just finished the kitchen!" Party or "We are having a belated housewarming party!"

I don't plan on having an anniversary party until at least 20-25 years in and I do hope someone in my family would throw a party for such a big milestone. :)

imo though, I wouldn't be offended if someone hosted their own anniversary party as long as they didn't expect gifts.

I think with a vow renewal, it would be good...making a reception-like event. I wouldn't accept gifts, though.

Unless you were renewing your vows or something, I think it would be weird to throw yourself an anniversary party, although maybe that's just because I've never heard of it? The only anniversary parties I know of were thrown by other people FOR the couple. But maybe it'd be like throwing your own birthday party? People do that all the time, so maybe this is similar?

Is it in bad taste to throw yourself a anniversary party?

At what year would it be appropriate? I think it would be fun! Maybe 5 or 10?
