I don't feel like it would be unsafe as long as you used bottled water for bottles (obviously) if you're FF. I just feel like it would be a PITA :) (too much to take, too much having to sit in the room while your kid naps a thousand times, etc).

But I'm not a huge travel bug anyways. I sort of feel like I'd rather wait until LO can spend a night without us and have my parents stay with her while DH and I have a vacation by ourselves thats a real vacation!

@Mrs.Hawk71: definitely go for it! We travelled all over the U.S. with LO since two months. She went on a 9hr flight each way when she was 8 months and did great! Also went to Belize when she was 13 months and again she was great on the flight and loved the trip! In her first 15months she went on 40 flights and we only ever had 2-3 bad flights where she was sick or grumpy.

We stayed at the Melia in Puerto Vallarta. It was really close to the marina so we walked there twice for dinner. Very kid friendly resort. The food was mediocre but not terrible, from what I've heard that's pretty normal for an all-inclusive. We did bring a umbrella stroller, it would have been miserable to wear him, too sticky and hot. We live in Southern California so the flight was only 2.5 hours and DS was a champ both ways. We had a great time.

We went outside of the country to Canada and to a Caribbean island when LO was 4 and 7 months respectively. If you're going to be at all-inclusive place, you'll be fine. I would maybe pack some pouches of food or if you are thinking of Baby-led weaning, then just ask for some help from the staff there. It should be fine.

yes. much easier to travel before they are walking and into toddlerhood. we traveled overseas without 18-month old and it was SO HARD. take advantage of their baby-ness while you can!

We flew back home to visit family and attend a wedding when LO was 7 mo (all day international flight). The flight was rough because back then, she only let me carry her, not to mention her allergies were in full effect. But she napped twice a day and not too mobile.

When she was 1.5 yo we took a short 5-6 hr flight and although the flight was a breeze, she was a lot more active and opinionated: we had to schedule more activities around her.

Looking back, I think traveling with a baby that isn't so mobile is easier. But traveling with an active toddler is more fun.

I say go for it!

Yes! We took our Daughter abroad for the first time at almost 12 months, but I think it would have been so much easier at 7 months before she started crawling!

We took DS to Europe at 6 months. It was pretty easy! We were also staying at my ILs, so it was a little more convenient than just going out on our own, but we took him to two other countries while in Europe and it was fine. It's so much easier to travel when they aren't yet mobile!

If you are in an all inclusive, your only real "problem" will probably be sleep (if your LO isn't sleeping well)! :silly: If you don't have to worry about cooking or housecleaning, it sounds like a dream!

Worth it! We took DD to Europe when she was just under 1. She was so easy and flexible--I could carry her in a wrap or soft structured carrier without her wanting to run around and she could nap while we were out and about.

It doesn't seem that long ago but it would be so much more complicated today. Her being mobile and having a strict nap and bedtime routine really changes everything!

My in-laws did a lot of international travel with DH when he was young, and they say it was easier before he was fully mobile.

5 yrs ago, we'd planned a big family trip to Ireland for this coming fall (my parents, DH's parents, out brothers); the thought being that everyone would have amble time to arrange their finances and schedules. We hadn't planned on having a 6 mo old at that time, but MIL, as well as many friends, have assured me it's the best time to travel.

Unfortunately for us, some family members may have to pull out due to finance reasons, and are urging us to to a closer, less expensive trip at that time instead. So we'll probably end up doing that trip when LO is a toddler or older, and a big handful!

Enjoy your trip!!!

Definitely, we traveled out of the country with DS when he was 5 months old (Italy) and 10.5 months old (London and Ireland). The 5 month trip was much easier than we expected, we just wore him the whole time! Go for it.

We didnt do an all inclusive but we did travel out of the country with our 6 month old. It's a good age, they're not too mobile and still nap twice a day or fall asleep when strapped to you. Go for it

We were first planning on taking a vacation when lo turns 1, however... may want to go a little sooner. Thoughts on this? Is it worth it, or just more work? Would you feel safe? Thinking all inclusive kind of thing (mexico or jamaica)
