Yeah we have done it a lot. The scenario you describe sounds familiar. DH's parents invited me on a trip to the Caribbean when we had been dating for less than a year. I took the plunge and had a fantastic time (it helped that they got us our own enormous suite to ourselves) and we've done tons of similar trips to island/beach places and ski vacations and cruises since. Not as much with my parents though we have done a couple. Currently there are (at least) two future vacations getting planned, one to Disney World with DH's parents and one to the Outer Banks with my parents, plus a Caribbean-or-possibly-somewhere-else trip for SIL's wedding.

yes, enjoy it but glad we don't do it often too. we have been doing an annual trip with my husband's family, sisters and their family, there's 13 of us usually. we usually do one big vacation rental somewhere, and this past year we did a cruise to alaska. it was great, and having our kids exposed to a big family trip is fun for them too. it's fun but at the end though, i'm happy to get back to my own home/space.

We've travelled with both, more than once now. We learned (the hard way) everyone needs their own cars and separate places to stay. Otherwise, it can be really fun and helpful!

We might be the anomaly. We did a big ski trip to Europe with my parents, my sister and her now husband, my in laws, my sister in law/her husband and three kids, and my brother in law/his wife. It was great but we were happy we all had our own hotel rooms and itineraries. My parents and in laws get along really well. We've also taken several trips where we've rented big beach houses with both my and my husband parents.

We travel with my parents 1-2x a year. Pretty big international trips. Even better now that we have LO. An extra set of hands or two is totally welcome.

We havent really traveled with my parents yet. But we would and talk about it often, it just hasn't happened. We've traveled with my in laws out of obligation (weddings, showers, etc). Not shared a room or even a house. But have been in the same destination at the same time.
We would never ever do it for fun/vacation. Like, ever.

My husband and I took a cruise with his Mom last year and shared a cabin on the cruise ship, it was tight and I was ready for a break afterwords, but it was more or less ok. We stayed in air b&bs for a few days after the cruise docked so we made sure to look at places with 2 bedrooms.

We have vacationed with my family and would do it again. Although they really like cruises and theme parks and it just is too much for us, we like more laid back vacations so we don't have anything planned with them at the moment.

I absolutely would not travel with my in-laws. We just don't see eye to eye and I think there would be a lot of conflict. So short visits are probably for the best.

Yes, this is my preferred way to travel. We've traveled with both my in-laws and with my parents.

We went to Hawaii last year and got to actually go swimming as a couple while my mother-in-law played in the sand with our two-year-old. She was thrilled because she doesn't usually get to spend that long with him. We even got to go out to dinner a couple of times on our own.

I have traveled with both my parents and my in laws. Every 2 years we go out to Utah for Christmas with my in laws and usually rent a condo together. We just took a weekend trip with my parents to Sequoia. I have also traveled with all four of them. We have done a few big vacations together with both my parents and my in laws together. It works great because then both sets of grandparents get to experience the vacations with their grand kids. We have a great time together.

I have traveled with my in laws in the past. We shared a condo in Florida with them. They aren't my favorite people and I see them everyday anyway so it wasn't the best but not too bad. Plus they stayed at the condo after DD went to bed so DH and I could go walk the beach/eat. I would travel with my parents, and even though I'm closer with them, it would be harder for me just because I'd feel bad if I didn't want to include them in every single plan.

We travelled to France and Belgium this summer with my parents. It was their first trip to Europe and we arranged everything, what cities we would stay in, the Air BNBs, the rental car, and how to get around on the Metro. My parents went along with everything, because they are very relaxed and also don't speak the language. I think it would have been more stressful with my in-laws. I would have worried about my MIL being rude to wait staff, and whether that had brought marijuana with them. Also, I wouldn't have been comfortable leaving DS with them while DH and I had our date in Paris.

I used to travel all the time with my mom before marriage. Two years ago we met up on a family trip for only two days of the trip and it went well. This year I set up a trip where LO and I are mainly traveling with my mom and DH will meet us there. I think it will be fine, mainly because I am in charge of the trip and my mom just wants to come along for the ride. We are staying in cozy one bedroom. I know the area well and will introduce the place to her. I also know my mom's traveling style and she is very up front and easygoing. I have had awesome trips with her in the past.
Now as for my dad, I think it would be harder because he doesn't communicate as well and I have to read his mind and cues. That is tough for me.

We've gone on several family vacations with my family before, we either get separate hotel rooms or rent a house with enough bedrooms.

We've only traveled once with my in-laws, back when dh and I first started dating, but mostly bc they don't travel much. We would consider it, though it's def more potential for tension/drama then my family.

Yep! My mom and dad take my siblings and I on a big family vacation every year. I'm the only ones with kiddos so it's great because usually at least one of my siblings or parents can hang out with the kids while DH and I go out to dinner or do some sort of activity together. We typically rent a house for all of us but have stayed in hotels too (definitely separate rooms!)

Yes. I've visited my dad in Florida with DD a couple of times and it has been great. This March, DH and the new baby will be coming too. It's just a two Bedroom condo. The baby and I will have one room, DH and DD have the other room and my dad will sleep on the pullout couch in the living room. It's just for 5 nights and my dad really enjoys his time with the grandkids.

A few years ago, pre-kids, my husband and I went to a destination wedding that my parents also attended. When we checked in they asked if we were together, my dad said yes, so they gave us adjoining rooms! That was a bit too much togetherness and I ended up having our room changed. We've been to Vegas with my parents twice and it's been great, they babysat while we went out and did things. We also went to Paris with the in-laws a few years ago and the first day was a bit fraught but then we figured out a rhythm (mostly made up of "we'll meet you at x place at y time" because we liked to walk everywhere and they didn't) and then it was great.
