A lot of my friends use their daycare teachers as babysitters. Sounds like a win-win to me.

@TurtleDoves: maybe you explained it better than I did. I feel funny about a personal line being crossed!

@mrbee: haha, too funny:)

I would think if I trust them in daycare: I'd trust them in my home. I like in home better because she has to follow uour parenting rules rather than the laws of the daycare. But if she ever returned to the daycare it may be weird since she's been all in your personal realm & she would have to switch back to total professionalism.

I would absolutely love it!! But we are desperate for babysitters so that may be clouding my judgment!

We use an in-home daycare, and the helpers are all high school and college students enrolled in the ECE program. We've had two of the girls over to watch DD before, and it's been great! DD's comfortable with them because she knows them, and since we didn't go out until DD was in bed, they really just sat on the couch the whole night watching tv/doing homework. We haven't used them yet since we had DS, but I think we'll be asking one of them to come over for a night in December.

I trust them but feel like there should be a separation between daycare and our house. I don't want them to see something - what knows what- and then judge us at daycare. YKWIM? People can be weird. And I wouldn't be comfortable dropping DD off at someone else's house unless I was familiar with their surroundings.

Absolutely! We've gotten the number of a few teachers. I figure they know how to get him to eat and sleep, so they're the ideal sitter.

One of LO's favorite teachers is going back to school and won't be working at the center anymore. With the daycare director's approval, she told some parents she is available for babysitting and gave us her card...

Would you be ok with this situation? DH feels a little uneasy about it . He says even though he is ok with her at school...he doesn't want her to come over to our house and he definitely wouldn't feel comfortable with dropping off LO at her house!
