I would want to be like my mom was. I felt like she was knowledgable in the type of birth I wanted since she had 4 unmedicated, with 3 at home. She let DH be the main support, but was able to get a few pictures with her iphone of our first time seeing our daughter. For that alone I was thriilled she was there. I kind of hope deep inside that she would follow that also. I've already been to my friend's birth and it was such an amazing experience. But to be honest it felt like she almost seemed the need to still "entertain" me. And she kept appologizing for everything. I wouldn't want to be in the position. I know that if just DH are there I will be 100% comfortable, rather than if anyone else was there with me.
