It would bother me, but even if they choose that name, it shouldn't directly affect your LO since she's older. I was seriously considering the name Alicia for DD. It's such a sweet, classic name

My son (George) was born just a few months after Kate had her baby. I was a little worried people would think we named him that because of the royal baby, and like you I also worried it would become a more popular name. I was just looking and couldn't find the social security results for 2014 but according to name berry it actually fell 36 spots!

Their sons name is George and I really haven't seen that name skyrocket in popularity at all since his birth so I don't really see it being that way if they have a daughter either. Maybe in the UK it is different?

I wouldn't mind, especially if I had already named my baby that. I would be a little upset if I was planning on using the name, but they announced it first, because I feel like everyone would think we were copying.

I wouldn't do it on purpose but what's done is done!

I unfortunately apparently named my boys after characters in a teen fantasy series. The first movie is coming out soon. Think Katnis/Peeta basically. Oh well!!

I was due a week after Prince George was born, both of us were team green. I was a little worried that we would choose the same name and people would think we named our kid after the royal baby, but I have a girl and George was never on the list. I was definitely more worried about Kim K- our girl name starts with C and I was worried she'd be stupid and spell it with a K. Then I would have had to change it!

But if they name this current baby the same as my C I would kind of like it. I think the popularity of her name is on the upswing anyway, by probably not quite classic enough for the royals.

It wouldn't bother me if my baby was already born...If they named her the same as DD1, I would love it. However, being pregnant with LO #2 due in July, I'm afraid if such a high profile person chooses our name for a LO and then it seems like we copied them a few months later.

Both my kids could've been named after the royal family and I feel like I need to explain to everyone that they were NOT named after them. In fact I had wanted DS2's name before the first royal baby but then totally took it off our list when he was born. Well then we used it anyway. I feel like when I introduce my guys for the first time a lot of people give us side eye, but I think if it was just one of the kids then no one would even notice. Especially if yours is older!

@jhd: same here, DS's first name is the same as one of Prince George's MNs.

I wouldn't mind at all. I mean, names are bound to be repeated by someone famous somewhere. I have a fairly uncommon name but I share it with a famous singer (spelled slightly differently).

I've always loved the name Alice!

But I'm such a brat about having a unique name. I have an odd name spelled in a strange way Ravin (sounds like Raven) and I used to get so mad when I was a kid and other people had my name, like Raven-Symone). So my Los name is also unique.

In your case it wouldn't bother me as your Alice came first! I would probably change my name choice if my child was due shortly after a royal birth and was going to have the same name, though. I just wouldn't want people to think I chose it because of them.

M shares a name with a few celebrity kids. I didn't even realize that until after we named her.

My dd was born around the same time as kourtney kardashians and I remember saying to my DH "ugh if she picks the same name as us we will have to pick another!" And I said it for the same reason- I didn't want to answer that question over and over! Luckily she picked something totally different. :P

I'd actually really dislike it? I'm due a few weeks after her, and we've had a name picked for months. I think it would drive me crazy to hear lots of comments about their name being the same, or asking if I named her after the princess. I'm not worried about the name being popular because all of the names on her list are already pretty popular. I'm bummed that we have the same taste in names. I know that's ridiculous and I've been blaming it on pregnancy hormones.

DD2 shares a name with that baby's step grandma.
I think the "quality" of the celebrity matters. Sharing a name with a princess is a lot better than sharing it with North West the person.
