I don't think the popular kids in my school were very smart ...obviously a huge generalization but they were popular because they were the best looking and they didn't necessarily study hard. We know so many people who used to be total nerds in school but ended up becoming so successful later on in life. Of course, being a nerd isn't fun and comes with some possible teasing.
