I voted yes, but I don't usually wear makeup. But I'd get a blow out, eyebrows done, that sort of thing.

Not a chance. When LO was a newborn I basically never wore make up, so many chemicals in all of it that I wouldnt want getting on her and irritating her sking. I started wearing makeup when I took her to church for the 1st time she was nearly 4 months old at the time

Great to hear! Thanks ladies!

@oliviaoblivia: awesome. Thanks! That's exactly what I'm hoping for as my last labor I looked like I'd been ran over by a truck so I'm hoping to look better for this one;)

@AalisMom: thanks I'll just remove my push tonight and keep them natural

I had to leave the house at 4:00am to get to the hospital on time and I still showered, straightened my hair, and put on some eyeliner and a bit of blush. I also got a pedicure but was told in advance no nail polish (like somebody said, they need to see your nail beds).

I would and I did! BUT I was told no manicures or pedicures because I guess they need to keep an eye on the color of your nails during surgery and make sure they're not turning blue or anything. And no perfume either but that might just be in case someone is allergic.

My doctor scheduled me to be induced on my due date after my early morning appointment showed I had an amniotic tear. The hospital didn't admit me until the afternoon, so I took a shower, did my hair, and put on a little bit of makeup. I also painted my nails! You won't want to do that stuff for a bit after the baby comes, so you might as well. Also, there is no shame in wanting to look nice for pictures of yourself with your new baby.

@jh524: I've had two RCSs now and worn makeup to both. Just some bb cream, mascara, and eyebrow pencil. My OR pictures from my this are great. Haha. I'm not usually vain but after my awful photos with my first I'm so happy to not look like a homeless person with my next two.

I want to at least wear some eye liner and mascara.

I did for my scheduled c section. After my labor, my hair looked like a rat's nest and I generally felt like I was hit by a truck. So I wanted to look nice for my planned c section.

Well, my c-section was an emergency and took place right after I had an external cephalic version to turn my breech baby. I had a day full of meetings scheduled after the procedure, so of course I had on makeup (I happened to have done a nice winged liner that day) and I had blown out my hair. Everyone remarks how "glamorous" I look in my baby's first photos...I actually feel a bit embarrassed about it as the winged liner is a bit much! I tell everyone "but I didn't realize I was having a baby that day--I thought I would be meeting with my CEO!"

I'm fortunate that my eye makeup didn't run at all despite the tears of joy I shed upon my baby's early (but safe) arrival.

As long as my doctor okayed it, sure. I looked terrible in my photos right after E's birth. But I don't wear a ton of makeup...a little BB cream, some mascara, a swipe of lip gloss.

I will definitely be getting my eyebrows done and a pedicure right before, though!

I had a scheduled c-section. I definitely washed and blow dried my hair, DH talked me out of wearing make up. I ultimately realized that if I got sweaty/cried a lot I might end up looking worse with makeup than without...

@wonderstruck: my OB said they look at your face, eyes, lips, fingernails, etc. during the surgery to gauge how you're doing and make up (and fingernail polish) masks a lot of that. It's hard to tell, for example, that someone's lips have turned blue if they're wearing red lipstick.

It was, in my opinion, a reasonable explanation and I trusted my OB's judgment.

I totally would! I had a scheduled induction and I got a blowout beforehand. It was early September in the South (aka a million degrees + humidity) and I wanted to look nice for pictures but refused to blowdry my own hair in those swampy conditions at 41 weeks pregnant!

Of course! Hello - that is a perk of a scheduled c section! I wore the same amount of makeup I wear to work - nothing crazy. I also dried and straightened my hair. My pre-op didn't say anything about not wearing makeup. It said no deodorant, lotion, wash with antibacterial soap. With my 2nd, it was planned but bumped up unexpectedly. I went in for an appointment and was dressed for work. They sent me over to the hospital and had me clean up. No one said anything about taking my makeup off. Unless, you wear a TON of makeup, I think the doctors and nurses will be able to see if your coloring has changed. At one point, my blood pressure dropped. They knew from my face and the monitors.
