My parents have worked together for as long as I can remember. My dads a doctor and my mom's his office manager. They have their moments, but for the most part it's been fine for them both.

I think it depends on the job for me. Dh is a computer guy and I'm an artist, so I would work with him to sell art online or something like that.

While it would be fun, I do feel as though it would put a strain on our relationship.

We actually met at work, but ask me if I'd work with him now? Nope. But it really depends on your relationship. I personally need my individual space. ya know?

i hope it works out for you!! being stressed at work can have such a negative effect on everything else in your life, i'm sure you'd be much happier=)

i don't think it would be good for DH & i to work together. we're better having our work to ourselves.

It wouldn't be allowed at our employers. They expressly prohibit this kind of thing. But if it were allowed, no. It's too weird for everyone else around you, IMO.

@Coco Bee: We definitely need time apart, which is why it's nice that he'd only be over me part of the time. He's out of the store a good 50-60% of the day doing route stuff anyway. Since we've been together, though, we've been good at telling each other when we need time alone, and we both respect that about each other.

When we were younger, we worked together at a fast food restaurant. He was a manager and I was a team leader. We were pretty good with keeping it a work relationship.

I don't know if I could work with my DH. We both pretty stubborn and are control freaks. We'll see.

I have told him that if he started his own business in web design that it would be fun to work together. I would handle the administrative end.

I think it totally depends on your relationship with your husband.

I know that for me, it would probably work because I really respect DH and I have always been good at keeping work/personal lives separate.

But for some marriages, I feel it could be a detriment. You have to really know yourselves, your strengths/weaknesses.

No matter how much you love someone, more couples than not need time apart to allow for time to miss each other or just have "their" time. So you really have to know where you stand in your relationship, and the dynamic of it.

I think it sounds like it could be a really good thing though!

My job isn't working out right now. My boss is pretty much psycho and it's stressing me out way too much. I'm not the only one, most of my coworkers feel the same.
I haven't told anybody at work that I'm planning on leaving, but a good opportunity came up where Hubs works, where they could potentially combine two part-time positions in order to give me a full time job. For at least part of it, Hubs would be my supervisor, with another manager over me for the other part. They already know I'm pregnant, and already know we would need a week off in September for our vacation, both because of Hubs. This might be a really good thing.

Would you ever take a job working directly with your SO?
