Mine would be fine, but I'd just do it for a hit to ease the transition and talk to her about it a lot before the next time. I'm sure she'll be ok once she's used to the new preschool.

I can let you know tomorrow! We have our sitter taking LO (2.5) to school tomorrow for the first time. It's his second day at this school and his 5th day with this sitter. Hopefully it will go okay!

I did preschool drop offs for a 3yo as a nanny. I don't know how she acted for her dad when he did it, but she was usually fine with me. Sometimes needed a couple extra hugs before I left, but that's about it. ETA- I started doing drop offs right away, so I was basically a stranger at first.

@T.H.O.U.: I have that convo with DH all the time! She also speaks really well so i sometimes treat her like she is 7!

@Mrs.KMM: Before we pulled her out of daycare, she would get upset if it was DH dropping her off (and not me), so i guess i'm asking her a lot to have a non-parent drop her off! :silly:

My own LO isn't getting dropped off for anything yet but my good friend has a 15 month old who can be dropped off at daycare by friends without problem.

@Freckles: Its so hard once you have a second to not look at your first child as a "big kid!" I still get so frustrated with her some times and I have to remember you are still only 4 even though she seems so old compared to the baby.

@Truth Bombs: @T.H.O.U.: I'm thinking we will try to push it a bit more after 1 month of school. We were hoping she would be okay with this since she took to school so well. I have to remind myself that she only recently started to be less clingy.

@Freckles: I think that sounds like too much change at once. I think once she's more adjusted to the school, you can just adjust the routine to give mommy and daddy hugs at the house. I would give it time and go slow.

Yup. This wouldn't phase my LO a bit as long as it was an adult she knew and felt comfortable with. I think you just have to push through it for the first few times so she sees that the neighbor does in fact take her to school, and that mommy does still come pick her up at the end of the day.

@regberadaisy: She sees the neighbour almost every day and has hung out at their house without me there. Over the summer, she was there almost 5 times a week!

I honestly don't know! I think she would be OK with BIL's GF doing a solo drop off. But she's watched her overnight with BIL and she's known her for almost a year and likes her a lot.
I'm really not sure about a neighbor!

My almost 3.5 year old daughter started the same full day preschool program as our next door neighbour's son. She loves his parents and our families have become quite close over the past 6 months we have gotten to know one another.

We originally planned to carpool - using our car, his mom would drop them off and i would pick them up. We did drop offs together for the first week. We attempted to have the mom do the drop off (in our car) but she was bawling so hard that DH ended up going with them.

I know it's a lot of change for her - she was at home with me and LO2 for 3 months, it's a new school (she was in daycare previously), and there's probably something about having your parents drop you off. She is totally fine when i drop her off - no tears, just good-bye and off to play with toys.

Right now i'm fine with doing the dropoffs because i'm on mat leave, but i really want this to work once i go back to work in a couple of months. Do you think it's too young to have someone else do drop offs? Would your kids be fine with it? Any advice?
