DH would hate it. He would go crazy if he was home all day and wasn't able to just do whatever, whenever.

He'd be a fantastic SAHD for his interaction with LO; how he takes care of her, etc. He also cleans and cooks more than I do, so he has me beat there.

Neither of us would make good SAHparents though because we need more adult, intellectual stimulation on a daily basis.

I used to think so, and I still wonder whether he'd be a better SAHD than I would a SAHM... but he LOVES his job, and he really likes social interaction. He likes kids, and he does fine when I'm gone for a night or a weekend, but I think he'd get lonely and frustrated if he was staying home with a kid when all the adults he knows were at work.

@jessiejo17: it's funny because my DH is very patent and he's never gotten impatient with me, maybe once or twice?? But he has gotten more impatient with ds than he has in his whole life lol. But I don't think that defines a good SAHD/SAHM. I get impatient too. Dealing with a baby, especially on their fussier days, can be very taxing.

I'm going to say no, but he might surprise me when she arrives. He has very little patience so I can't see him handling a crabby baby very well!

No, he'd last a day and would be begging to go back to the relative peace and quiet of his office. My husband still thinks that he can just let our son entertain himself off in the corner while he does his thing...you'd think after 2 years he'd get a clue, but no.

No, my LO would break him! Haha! He's really calm and patient with her but doesn't know what to do when she's fussy. He goes in drone mode and starts pacing with her because that's all he knows to calm her. Poor guy, he'd be pacing all day.

I don't know if my DH could do it! He loves sleeping and he is the bread winner for sure.. makes over 4 times what I do.. so it would never make sense.

I think the house would be a disaster if he was in charge! lol

He was a SAHD while I was working part-time in July & August. He did awesome - he was super nervous on my first day back, but they got into a groove and I'm so glad they had the opportunity to bond like this :) He went back to work full-time when I quit to become a SAHM and I know he's really bummed... he sent me a sad text on his last day home w/her saying he knew his special time w/LO was coming to an end :(

Nope.... I think he'd hate his life. He works in sales, and sales people need their ego stroked regularily. I joke that half the time his boss just has to go admire the sales staff to keep them happy and then stay out of their way. He also gets frustrated super easy so I think he'd loose his mind staying home. Lastly, he is very much income driven and making money makes him super duper happy.

Yup, I think the DH would be a better SAHD than I would be at SAHM.

I'm the breadwinner so I have a feeling this will come true. DH is going back to school but his career could cause him to start his home business. Then he could work from home.

NO! He would HATE it. He can't hear the kid cry for more than 10 seconds. And he likes to make the kid start to cry because he makes cute faces.
I mean... he could do it if I died but I think he would rather drop LO at daycare than stay home with him.

ETA and he complains about his job all the time. It's the military though so he can't quit.

I think DH would make a better SAHD than me as a SAHM!! Seriously.. I LOVE watching him interact with DS, he is sooo sweet and so patient with him. He is seriously the best daddy ever.

If it was possible, I would LOVE to be able to work FT and be the breadwinner, but sadly I don't have the education/resume/etc to make what DH does... maybe someday.

How about your SO?
