I have 3 - an all cotton, a cotton/hemp blend, and a bamboo/linen blend. DS is 14m and 27 pounds, and so far, I prefer the all cotton one by far. It was so easy to "break in" and is super soft. I'd start there, though. Right now Oschas are really competitively priced on the swap. That's where I got over the learning curve!<br /> Most people have a base size of a 5 or 6, so I would start with that length. I've also heard to start with a striped design, so that you can see which rails you need to tighten. My first back carry was just a ruck, and I think you can learn that even without a meetup! I have a little stash now with a few different sizes and blends, and I think hemp is my fav.
