@Tanjowen: seriously! LO is a giant chubster and obviously incredibly adorable but everyone has to comment on how big she is and her rolls! I'm jealous of the cute tiny babies and think how I probably wouldn't have wrist tendonitis or sore arms if my LO didn't weigh in the 95th percentile! Also goes through clothes way too fast. Also who knows if my LO will be a volleyball player because she's big now. Give it a rest!

I make small babies and people are constantly commenting on how small my babies are. It's annoying, but what can you do? People are rude.

45 minutes is just weird. I have learned to say zip about babies size, but I'm one of those that birthed a big baby and has a top of the charts LO, so I secretly obsess over small babies because they are just so darn cute. Seriously, adorable.

I wouldn't say anything to mo'm though because I know I was touchy about my LO size...

I get a little annoyed when people go on and on about kids' bodies, regardless of whether it's because they are small, big, tall, short, whatever. I think commenting once as an observation is ok, but I don't blame you for being uncomfortable as she carried on for so long.

That would be annoying to me if I was in that situation. She really didn't need to go on and on about it. If I had the guts, I would say something about her big sons... But that would be rude and impolite.

That's so rude to go on and on about it. I get comments about my son being big for his age when people ask how old he is but no one ever goes on about it. Kids are different sizes just like adults!

Ugh. DD is tall and slender and all I hear about is how skinny she is. My mom had the same issue when I was a kid an she wishes she would have talked about how BIG the commenter's kid was.

Personally, when people start asking her weight I think I am just going to respond, "We havent weighed her lately. She's healthy and that's all that matters." OR "Yup, she's thin. Just like adults, babies come in all shapes and sizes."

This aggravates me to no end. Would it be polite for me to comment on an adult's weight? No. So stop commenting on my kid's weight.

M is small, too. (19 lbs at 15 months) I get this all the time. I would have been distancing myself from her. That would drive me crazy!

Do you know what he is on the height weight chart? It would have been fun to say something like, "he's actually in the 40th percentile for height and weight so he's average". Sorry you had to put up with that though. I'm not sure why people feel the need to make comments like that about other people's children. It drives DH crazy!

I agree that's rude. I've had it on the opposite end where my son has always been big for his age. Especially as a baby, he was very chubby. People would always say, "Wow, what a big boy! He's got rolls to spare! He's going to be a football player one day!" I don't mind one comment, but when people go on and on, it gets annoying.

Commenting once that someone is so tiny is still rude but you can see how it comes out before you stop it. Going on and on and on is just bizarre. That lady needs a clue.

I definitely had people go on like I was a saint or someone to be pitied when they found out my LO didn't sttn around 7 months. I was like, I don't even think that it's unusual, but you certainly aren't helping me feel better....

Just need a little vent. I went to a birthday party this morning with my son (16 months) and there were lots of kids ranging in age from 8 months old to 5/6 years old. There was a woman there with two GIANT boys - they are 20 months and 3 1/2. My son was toddling around getting into everything as 16 month olds are wont to do, and she said "oh is that your son? How exciting that he's walking so early, look at him go!" I said, well yes he's walking great but he is 16 months, not so unusual! And it was like I told her Santa Claus was real - the next 45 minutes, seriously, were her telling me over, and over, and over, and over again how TINY he is, comparing his wrists and ankles with her sons, bringing MULTIPLE people into the conversation to exclaim over how small my son is. Eventually my husband noticed how uncomfortable I was getting and made an excuse to get out of there (we'd already been there 2 hours, it wasn't awkward). I really wanted to say to her that she should be careful, that she doesn't know what people's sore spots are with their kids, but of course I didn't. I hated every minute of it though.
Vent over!
On the plus side, before all this she was complaining that her 20 month old has never slept through the night and still wakes up 3/4 times a night. I DIDN'T rub it in her face that my son has been sleeping through since 6 1/2 months....but lord did I want to!!!
