@avivoca: Your confidence will keep getting better and better as you keep up with it! You could also practice on a large stuffed animal a few times until you feel comfortable with the hand/arm movements, then try with H. My husband had to help me wrap Scout the stuffed talking dog a million times on my back before I could do it quickly and confidently enough to try it with my kids. If you're looking for other easy hip carries, I loveeee the Robbins. I never get the Poppins quite right (although it's so cute and I love seeing others do it), but the Robbins is really easy. It's my go-to parking lot carry because it's fast and simple!

@avivoca: I couldn't find my wrap or my ring sling WEdnesday night so I put her in a side carry in the ergo (which is INSANELY UNCOMFORTABLE with a toddler) and she was happy and content to hang out there while I made dinner, so if you can get a good, snug wrap, it might help you out a lot! I need to break mine in more because it's still so stiff. It must be a normal thing because like most of my friend's kids, they didn't want to be held for the longest time, and now, at about 2, they're in a stage where they all want to be held!!!!

@twodoghouse: Thanks, I will check that out! It looks pretty simple and H should be okay with it since she's used to being popped into the Ergo. It also could be that I'm way more confident with the Ergo.

@blackbird: Yes, H wants to be held ALL THE TIME and it's a bit too much even though I'm not pregnant. A hip/back carry would be awesome when I'm trying to cook and she wants to be up and see everything.

A friend of mine just taught me a quick hip poppins that i've been working on--since E wants to be held so much and it's getting to be too much at 33+ weeks pregnant, i'm hoping it saves my back a little! No such luck with back carries, though (and i'm using a size 6)

My kids are younger, but here are some thing I would try - start with poppable carries that you can pre-tie and drop her into. I believe the coolest hip carry is poppable? Check that one out! Is she interested in watching herself in the mirror? Maybe distract her with her reflection while you wrap her. I liked wrapping in the mirror in the early days anyway so win-win. If all else fails, bribe with food? There's a lady on YouTube I really like who always gives her son crackers when she's wrapping him. I used to laugh because it was just funny, but now that my kids are wigglier I totally get it. As always, make sure that she's fed, clean/dry, not overtired, before you start wrapping. Also, when my kids are irritated by my practicing with them, wearing them outside always helps! Good luck!

On the advice of Mrs. Twine and my local baby wearing group, I purchased a wrap to wear H in. We love our Ergo for front carries, but it is really uncomfortable for back carries. I have a 4.6 m Storch Vicki, but every attempt at wrapping turns into a frustrated mom and a toddler who is freaking out, screaming, and arching away from me. Do you have any tips for helping her to get used to it, or am I destined to wait until Hypothetical baby #2 is born and try then? I've been trying a Poppins hip carry and would love to work up to a rucksack carry.
