@edelweiss: what does normal eventually look like? lol I totally believe she's waking up after the sleep cycles to practice her new developments.@ms.janedoe: I've had this really high pitch scream cry lately. Almost like a temper tantrum baby style. All night she kept crawling to me and trying to get into my arms. I agree it's getting crazy. I've thought about if I was doing the right thing every time I have to start over.
@catlady: I hope so too! what age is your lo? just curious about the standing thing, Baby Phoenix stands with us holding her gently. She's still loosing her balance when by herself. I have a strong feeling it won't be long now, but she's only just turned 7 months on sun.
@Revel: Looks like M.S Janedoe, you and I and all going to be following each other for a bit> I know I'll be here for sure. How's this going so far?

So we really are having the exact same situation! I'm leaning towards developmental milestones, even though our LOs are different ages. Sharing my sympathies, and hoping we are not posting in the wee hours again tonight.

@MamaPhoenix: She does a normal crawl, I don't think she knows how to army crawl. She also just pulled to standing today too. So many things going on developmentally! I hope yours figures out what she is trying to learn soon!

@MamaPhoenix: dude, we hit 40 minutes. Her mad cries turned into scared/sad death screams so I went in and got her and brought her in bed with me. ShecwS so freaking sad. If this would have happened eRly on I probably would have quit.

Here's hoping tonight is better... Sigh.

around 12 months, my LO was learning how to walk and some other skills--his sleep for a few weeks was jacked up. i think their brains get on overdrive and it's easy for them to wake up after a sleep cycle ends. so over 2 weeks, we had a few nights of him being up for 1.5-2 hours. it was not fun, but it did pass and things went back to "normal".

@ms.janedoe: I'm so happy to see your here with me lol that was sarcasm!!!! we are on the second wake up tonight. First one she had dropped her soother out of the crib and wanted it. After 20 minuets of hysterics I went in and gave her the soother. I laid her right back down and walked out. She went back to sleep. Second time, there she was sitting in her crib. I just nursed her and she's out cold again. I'm praying she stays asleep till 8:30am now.
@lamariniere: ugh! I hadn't even thought about standing!!!!!
Do you sleep good now? when does it get better? I literally dream about being able to dream lol!

No real advice, but I remember when my son learned to pull himself up to stand. He was already a crap sleeper, but he would stand up in the crib all night long and the sleep was even worse! So I think the sitting up is normal, she's gotta practice her new skill even if it is exhausting for everyone.

@MamaPhoenix: Gah, were in the middle of our first random wakeup (that's not for nursing) that we've had since like, the first night. What's going on?? Whyyyy?! :((

ETA: were at 20 minutes of crying so far (with one check). I feel like we're regressing. This is hell.

@ms.janedoe: Sounds like your lo's just behind mine. We had that same rocking going on for a while. She's actually army crawling all over the place now.
@mrbee: I can totally see that!
@catlady: Is your LO army crawling or the real deal? There's hope when I hear that it goes back to normal.
@.twist.: I had no idea it was gonna take so many times! I thought that once they were trained everything stayed better. @californiadreams: Thank you, I hope it passes sooner than later.

@mrbee: I'm so hoping that's what's going on with us, too. We're on our 11th (or 12th?) night of CIO. It's gone pretty smoothly and Friday and Saturday we were down to less than a minute of crying. Last night when she figured out how to rock it took 55 minutes, and tonight we were at 40... Not cool. :((

We have definitely had set backs after training where we had to do a bit of re-training. It's always easier and quicker the second/third/fourth time around!

I think there's a lot of developmental stuff going on at this age. Last week, my 7 month old starting acting really weird too. Waking up more often, super fussy, screaming for no reason, and nursing strikes. We also kept finding her sitting up in her crib! This past weekend, she was suddenly back to normal - sleep got better again, nursing is fine, AND she learned how to crawl. So no advice than maybe wait it out a few more days? I hope it resolves for you like it did for us!

We often found that when the kids went through a new developmental milestone, they'd have a sleep regression... they'd spend all night excited and/or practice their new skill!

Ugggh, sorry, lady. :(

No advice really, it may be an extinction burst? Also, if she's just learning to sit, that may be the cause of the wakeups. LO just learned to rock on all 4s last night so we had a 55 minute CIO trying to get her down because she wouldn't stop rocking... Good luck. :/

Somebody please tell me what is going on. Last two weeks I did sleep training with baby phoenix. Things progressed slowly but we did make progress. She was going down for all naps by herself. She was going to bed at bedtime all by herself. She was only waking once a night to nurse and then right back to sleep. All of this has gone out the friggin window. DH has been home for a few nights because of the holiday. He goes back to work tonight and it's just me and baby girl. The last 4 nights that he's been home, she's been waking every 2 hours!. Hysterically crying and yelling. I'm exhausted. She turned 7 months yesterday. Something new happened too. I woke in the middle of the night to her baby babble over the monitor. what I saw scared the shit out of me. There she was sitting! in her crib all by herself. For the love of me I couldn't figure out how. She's never gotten in a sitting position from a laying down position before. What scared me was how easy it would/could be for her to fall out of the crib like that. Needless to say the crib has been lowered and baby girl has been getting into said sitting position for days now by herself. Is this the cause of her sleep being disturbed? Some new milestone? If so, what do I do next?
Do I start sleep training all over again, including MOTN wakeups? I read that 7 month olds still need to nurse at night. Is this true?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm just baffled right now.
