Our LO never really took to the pacifier part of her Wubanub, other than chewing on the flat part. She's 2 now, so I keep meaning to cut off the paci since she still likes to carry around the little animal. I'm fairly sure they are intended to have a longer life than just a pacifier--like to the point that I have a vague recollection that there was a graffic on the package diagramming how to cut off the paci? Or did I dream this up? :silly:

We fully cut the paci off both DS's wubbanubs as part of transitioning to no paci. We told him that monkey and red dog 'grew up' and didn't need their paci and neither did he. He kept them as a lovey for a week or two but now just plays with them if he comes across them. Blankie and a stuffed pig are his faves now.

Not exactly what you asked, but I've replaced the pacifiers in our wubbsnubs - just trim the threads to cut the old one out, then stitch in a new one (or a ring or chewy toy if you're trying to cut ties with the pacifier. Easy! :)

I did this with DD's wubbanub.. In the end she didn't really take to it and started sleeping more with a stuffed dog from ikea we got her.

@bluestriped bee: My son (19 months) also LOOOOOOVES his lamb. Sort of like a wubanub but you can use it with any paci, so I bought the 12+month plus pacis to put in it. But anyway, to answer your question, yes, I would cut the entire paci part off of your LO's animal and then let her keep it. Less chance to choke on anything imo! When we decide to pull the plug on pacis (no pun intended, ha), I will simply remove the paci part from the lamb and let DS have the lamb!

We have a beanie baby that has a pacifier attached (it's pretty much a weighted wubanub). DD is particular attached to her dolphin. One of our dogs got to the silicone pacifier so I had to cut the tip of the pacifier.

She still sucks on it and uses it when she sleeps and soothes her when she gets upset. (Oh, she is 22 months old)

Since the tip is cut, do I need to go the extra step in cutting the rest of the pacifier off?

She is still attached to her Dolphin. If she is not sucking the pacifier part, she'll still suck on the fin or another part of the dolphin. So it's turning into a lovey.

Anyone had to do something similar with a wubanub?
