We had the same thing happen when LO started walking. I believe that it also has to do with him getting tired. He fell more when tired and a day at daycare seems to tire him more than a day at home would. It stopped after a month or two though. Our daycare also never called but they put icepacks on the goose eggs etc. I was fine with that.

Hope she gets over it soon!

I think I'd cut them some slack since she just started walking - my son just started walking and even with me right there (although I also have a newborn, making it tricky) he falls allll the time, I'm constantly trying to put stuff away so there's less he could potentially hit his head on or trip on, but that would be pretty much impossible in a daycare setting.

When DD was learning to walk I had to sign an "incident report" at daycare practically every day. She was constantly falling down and banging her head. Our daycare does call us if a child has a visible bump on their head or if they have any incident involving their teeth.

LO is watched by my mom and still looked like he was in a bar fight when he was learning to walk and after because he would be very adventurous. My mom watches him like a hawk too but she can't watch him 24/7. It didn't last too long maybe a few months, when he finally realized he should be more careful.

@MamaPhoenix: from about 10 months to 2 years, my los legs were constantly covered in bruises. She would come home with rug burn on her face all the time. I was concerned but always talked to the daycare teachers about it and I trusted them. She was a mess and clumsy and learning how to walk and run without killing herself. I know it sucks. I know seeing your baby with bruises everywhere makes you feel better but, she's learning how to use this awesome body of hers. Hopefully the bruising subsides as she gets better at walking and more control over her movements.

Sounds normal to me. But it stinks to see our babies get hurt. The last time we went to the ped, she noted my then 6 month olds bruises and was like "so she's crawling now?!" Lol. My nephews ped made a similar comment when he started walking.

@Adira: The reasonable side of me is thinking the same thing. It is 3 to 1 in there so they can't be on her all the time like I can at home. It just sucks to see someone so tiny so banged up. But they are resilient little things.

@blackbird: Her legs are totally bruised on the shines too!!! The poor kid just looks beaten. I get self conscious about it out in public. You get the EYE from everyone looking at her face like you did it too her.

I feel like Xander was hurting himself all the time when he first started walking, and it was worse at daycare because there's lots of other toddlers learning to walk and knocking each other over. At home, I'd hover around him as he was learning to walk to make sure he didn't get hurt, but they can't do that at daycare!

To me, it sounds all normal. Xander's gotten a number of bumps and bruises at daycare and they don't usually call me. They've only called me for more serious injuries (he once fell and split his lip and another time got a bloody nose).

Sorry your baby got hurt though! I know it's hard! <3

Well, E plays rougher at my MIL's and has more precarious things to tumble on, like a play set. She comes home with a LOT more bruises. I also joked she looked beaten up! I wouldn't worry about it too much, but I might ask how she's hurting herself so often.

When E was learning to walk, good lord, her legs were soooo bruised

Just want to get a little feedback here before I got off and do something irrational. I love our daycare and the staff. I do have some concerns though. In two weeks my Lo has sustained 3 huge bruises one accompanying a large goose bump. She had recently learned to walk independently but is still really unstable from time to time. She's gotten these quote on quote bruises from falling while walking and landing on something hard (toys etc). Today she fell and smashed the top of her head on a mini wooden table the toddlers sit at. She's got a purple bruise and a good goose bump. They had me sign an accident report after telling me about it when I picked her up. I did not receive any calls that anything happened after any of these incidents. I get that babies and toddlers fall and accidents happen. I was cool about it after the first two. But after today looking at this poor baby that looks physically abused. (One bruise on each cheek and now her forhead) I can't help but feel mad that my LO is getting this hurt. Three times in two weeks? We don't have these kinds of accidents at home. I'm starting to wonder how much attention is being paid here. Am I over reacting to want to say something tomorrow or is this just normal toddler daycare stuff?
First time mom with a Lo in daycare so I really appreciate all the feedback as I don't want to look like THAT crazy first time mom.
