@MamaMoose: yeah I didn't want to go and threaten them, who knows how people react, they could "accidentally" let their dog out in our yard again. I think noting it on the police report is the way to go.

I would avoid making threats to your neighbors. Even if the dogs are removed you still have to live near the people. It may be too late for you to file a separate report, but it can definitely be noted in your neighbor's report that this is a repeat offense. If I were you I would just ask the police to advise on what is the best course of legal action to make sure you and your family are protected.

In our state, dogs only have to attack another dog unprovoked once before they can be legally deemed a dangerous dog.

They already have a fence- which the dogs can jump, bc my husband witnessed it- and this time they ran out the front door.

It's been a while so I'm thinking it might be too late for a police report.

I agree with chopsuey. Would it be possible to negotiate with the owners and tell them they have X amount of time to get a fence put up for the dogs or you're turning in a report as well, and calling animal control? I'm guessing no since they let it happen more than once, but it's a thought. Otherwise, I'd make a report also. :(

So, a few months ago, one of our neighbor's dogs got loose from its leash, ran into our yard and attacked our dog. Luckily, we have a woodpile out back and DH was able to beat the dog off, but not before it punctured the skin of our pup in a few places.

The guy came over, swore it was the first time it ever happened, and paid our vet bill. We did not file a police report.

Yesterday, the same dog and it's "brother" rushed out the front door of their house, ran across 2 yards and into our neighbor's yard, severely injuring their dog. They called the police and filed a report.

I told our neighbor that we would tell the police of our dog's attack as well, if they wanted us to. I feel so bad that we didn't call the police, bc this could have possibly been prevented.

We don't have a real fence, we have an invisifence, and I am scared that these dogs will attack again.

How could you even justify keeping dogs that attack other animals unprovoked?!
