Agree, get one you like. But I want to point out there are excellent-quality gliders that don't cost $1000. We have a Best Chairs Tryp glider/recliner and it's amazing. It was $482 including tax after the 20% BBB discount. We plan to keep it around for years.

@Herrade: I have a Dutailier. It's a little over a year old, and it's super creaky now. I kind of hate it.

Sell and get what you want. Now that you hate the cheap one, you will always hate it. You can justify an expensive one by knowing its good quality and its something you can keep forever. The pottery parn rockers have a great look that isn't too "baby nursery". You can also by fixed legs for it once you think you are done with the rocker legs.

Sell and buy one you love. We have the Quinn Swivel Glider by Best Chair and love it. I spent many, many hours in it and it's very comfortable and quiet.

I'd sell both and get the one you want, especially if it'll cover the cost of your new one! This one already proved to be faulty, not sure the replacement will be any more comfy for you.

My one main gear regret is our glider. I got a cheapie one and it's fine. But had I known I would be spending SO much time in it I would've spend more than $100 and gotten a really comfortable one. It's barely making it through two kids! I don't think you need to spend a grand on a glider! Holy shit that's more than our couch and love seat. But definitely splurge on a nicer one if you're getting "free" money anyways.

Sell! And I highly recommend a gliding recliner. I LOVE ours, and when we no longer need it in the nursery it's going to live in our living room.

Sell and get a good one, especially if you expect to spend a lot of time in it. I love my Dutailier glider/ottoman and recommend it highly. We ordered custom fabric and finish, and it was well under $1K. Stock options are cheaper. You can find them on Amazon.

I agree with sell and get what you want. We've used our glider so much, my son is almost two and we still rock for a few minutes before bed.

We had a traditional rocking chair with DD because I didn't have an extra 1K lying around by the time we bought stroller, crib, car seat etc. it was okay but it wasn't exactly comfortable or practical.

When we found out we were expecting #2 we decided to splurge on a nice glider since it was going to be our one real purchase for this one. We got a Monte Grano and OMG it is amazing. It's so incredible comfortable and its stylish so I know we will use it for years to come in our living room when it's done being used in the nursery.

So I say sell them and get what you want!

Sell. I have a hand me down expensive glider. It's been through five kids and now it lives in our family room and my husband likes it for watching TV. It's held up so well and still glides silently and smoothly.

We purchased a glider/rocker for my son's room before he was born, and at the time we decided to buy a cheaper model for financial reasons because paying $1000+ for a chair seemed unreasonable for us. Flash forward 6 months and I have some serious buyers remorse!! The glider we purchased is poorly made and creaks like crazy any time you move in it. It also damaged the rug underneath it because the black paint on the base transferred to the carpet. I emailed the manufacturer and they have been great. They offered to send me a brand new glider plus a second glider (which I'm assuming I'd sell?) to cover the cost of the damage to the carpet.

I'm trying to decide now whether to keep one of the replacement ones they send me, or sell both of the new chairs they send me plus my used one and purchase one of the really nice $1000+ gliders. At this point if I sold both of the new gliders and my used one on Kijiji I wouldn't have to pay anything for a really nice one. We are on baby #1 right now and plan to have another in a few years. My worry is that the new one the manufacturer sends me could end up creaky as well and would drive me crazy all over again BUT I would end up with an extra $600 or so in my pocket if I keep the current model. WWYD?
