I would go for it, sounds like a lot of fun and that it would be worth the aftermath :)

I'm gonna be the odd one out and say maybe don't go with the baby....how old is your older child? Is it going to ruin the experience for ds? He is probably already going through a lot of transition having a new baby in the house and if he is old enough to know whats going on, the baby screaming and stealing all the attention may take away from his special trip. I would find childcare, whether grandparent or a trusted babysitter first, but if that wasn't possible i would stay home. Unless DS is an easy going roll with it kid who doesn't get upset by sitting in a car with a screaming sister....in which case, go for it! :)

Thanks all!! Going to go enjoy the festivities

@macintosh: I totally would but she does not like bottles (bahhhhh)

@dagret: I plan on wearing her to help her be as comfortable as possible (she doesn't like the bucketseat too much)

I'd go. My LO hated the carseat until recently (she's 14 months) but I didn't let the miserable rides stop me from enjoying activities with family.

Oh I like @macintosh: advice as well- probably would be nice to have an outing just the three of you anyway. But if that's not possible, in inclined to say go. Do you think the baby will be miserable while you are there (thus making you and your toddler not have fun) or just on the way home?

I like @macintosh: advice - ask the grandparents to stay with the newborn and get some alone time with your DS and DH

I'd go as a family!
Eta: if it's outdoors, the fresh air might help the baby conk out. And have you thought about baby wearing instead of just carrying or using a stroller?

We bought a living social deal (zoolights with train rides, carousul rides and parking included) as a bday gift for our son...the original plan was the 4 of us to go (dh, me, ds and 10 week old)... But lately it has been hellish when we would stay out past dd (10week old) bedtime...we actually get home by her bedtime but she gets angry cuz we messed up her routine so she will cry in the car until we get home...

Now plan b is for me and dd to stay home while dh and ds (and now grandparents) go to the zoo...however I'm getting second thoughts and really want to go especially since I know how much ds loves the zoo and this will be the first time he will see a lights display...

What would you do? Just suck it up and take 10week old to the zoo too knowing that the car ride back may be hellish? Or just stay behind?
