How old is you little one? My daughter is 2.5, so she already fights naps as it is, so trying for an early nap just won't do. I might suggest getting up in the morning a little earlier so you can have an earlier nap and then arrive late. If she's young enough, a long party with lots of kids can be overwhelming anyways. Good Luck!

I would drive to the party area an hour or so early. If LO falls asleep on the way to the party at the earlier time then you get extra nap time in pre-party. Otherwise I would entertain LO with a walk or at a local park before the party and have a nap on the ride home. I think my LO would be so tired at that point it would be easy to transfer her to the crib.

I feel your pain, my ILs plan everything to start at noon and it's a total pain! Depends on your LO...mine would nap in the car, and hopefully/probably be distracted enough by the party that he'd be okay not taking his real nap until after. He'd end up passing out on the way home. Personally, I prefer that to fighting him to take a nap early, it tends to just set a bad tone for the whole day.

Short morning nap ( I would wake my DD up if necessary ) and then try for a nap after. As long as she is up before 4-430 she still wants the same bedtime (730)

Meh I wouldn't worry about it but ds does fine with skipping his nap. He'd fall asleep on the way home.

I'd leave a bit early so LO can complete one sleep cycle (40 mins for my LO) so she can wake up refreshed. And try to get to her to sleep after too. Lord knows how much gas I've wasted on my kids' naps!

my LO would fall asleep in the car beforehand for sure. i'd do that and then try to put her back down after the party.

Ugh. Knowing DD she'd fall asleep in the car on the way there regardless and then be pissy when I woke her for the party.

I'd try leaving early, going to the Starbucks drive through and buying a little bit of a longer early nap.

I'd probably go for the car nap. She'll be ok for the party and sleep again on the way back. Won't be the most fun evening, though.

So, we just found out that DH's Niece's 8th birthday party (which we already agreed to go to) is 12-2pm...LO's exact nap time!

Would you either shoot for a shorter nap before the party, possibly en route (though it's less than half an hour's drive) or keep her up until after the party?
