I would keep her in her current daycare of it is feasible until june. At least she'll have that consistency when everything else is changing

We're in a similar situation. We went with an interim daycare and it turns out we like it a lot. LO is 11 months and seems totally fine. She loves people though. I can't imagine driving back to her old daycare every day.

@BeachMama: Another option to consider is hiring someone or having a family member do the morning drop off. With moving it might be harder to find someone but it might even be a great job for a sahm looking for a few extra dollars. The added expense might prove to be worth it if sleep is already at a premium.

Personally, I would just put her in another daycare that is more convenient and has places available. If the preferred daycare then has a place available in June, you can assess whether it's worth moving her again (ie how did she handle the first move? if she was totally fine, then chances are she'll be totally fine moving to a new day care again. If it was a struggle, then maybe leave her in the planB daycare). That's just what I would do, but your other plan is equally valid - it's not as though you'd be adding 2 hours to your daily commute so it's doable.

Thanks guys. I think we'll try to keep her at her place and do the commute and just see how it goes. The 3rd daycare that we would switch her to in the short term only needs a week or so notice, so if it's not working out it shouldn't be too hard to switch over.

I would just suck it up for the couple months and leave her at her old daycare. I also drive a lot so 30-45 minutes doesn't sound totally crazy.

I would go with the longer commute. All those changes back to back would be so hard on LO.

I would keep her in her current daycare. Seems to make more sense to not have her transition twice in such a short period of time, and you're not looking at a long commute for too long.

What time do you wake up now? If you could swing it, it sounds like it'd be easiest overall to wake up earlier... but that may not be feasible!

DH and I are moving next month, about 20 miles from where we live now. We are switching DDs day care to one closer to my work, versus the one in our neighborhood now (which we love). But the new day care we found can't guarantee a spot til June. Which leaves us with 2 choices:
1. Keep her in her current daycare til June. I would commute completely out of my way to drop her off at daycare in the morning, and DH would pick her up on his way home (not out of his way). This would add at least 30-45 min to my drive.
2. Put her in another daycare that has openings for the 2 months until the spot in the new daycare opens up in June.

My concern is that DD will already be dealing with some big changes, moving and changing daycares. It's easier on DH and I to put her in the other daycare until the spot opens, but I worry about all the changes for DD, which could possibly lead to behavior issues, thus making it harder for us.

What would you do?
