We were in a similar situation (we're in Australia as well) where we were in a regional city in QLD whilst pregnant and haaaaaated it. I was so miserable, it was awful. We were only there for eight months fortunately, before DH took an opportunity back in Brisbane, just a few weeks before our bub arrived. It was the best decision ever. Our finances were cut in half when we moved but it was worth it. </p> <p>We've just moved again, this time to Darwin,and whilst we were really apprehensive at first, the career opportunity for DH and the money meant we couldn't pass it up. We knew it was either Darwin or remote WA or remote QLD, so we came here and have absolutely fallen in love with it.</p> <p>I'm rambling a bit, but the point is that if you hate where you are now, I'd move, even if it's not your ideal location. It could end up being better than you thought. Where in Australia are your options? If you'd rather not say, or want to put it on my wall as a gold post, feel free. Save up what you can. Live off what the dropped salary would be and if the nicer spot comes up in two years you can move and have a nice cushion. Kids are expensive and you never know what could happen. I'd go for the money and build up a nice savings. I think it would be nice to be settled before the baby comes so you can enjoy the time and not have to stress about job searching when the baby is little. Just my 2 cents though! </p>
