I'm not sure the nature of your work, but do you have any ideas of new things you could do to benefit the company? In my job I could propose a new project or even some of the admin/organizing tasks that people let slide. That said, if you're able to make up some of the lost money by putting extra time toward your own business then I wouldn't worry about it too much!

Do you have any training/continuing education you can do during that time? It sounds like you're doing everything you can to make yourself busy so I'd probably just make myself available during that time to not lose money.

Would love advice, though only roughly pregnancy related! So, while pregnant, my part-time job switched me to remote. This was great. I work a set # of hours per week and also run my own business the other hours.

Lately, I haven't been getting enough work to fill the set # of hours at my part-time job. Technically, I clock in and out (I am a salaried employee entitled to up to a certain amount per year). I can sort of log off and on whenever to do my projects; I don't have set hours, though I did promise to make myself available if needed during a certain window per day.

I complete my work fast. What do I do with the remaining time? Sometimes I just log out, losing money, so I can "free up" my time without feeling guilty, or else I end up answering emails or doing other stuff because I'm finished early.

I have always asked if anyone needs anything, checked in to see if more needs to be done, etc. Finally, I suggested that I become a contractor with a set of deliverables each week, but they said no, but they'd reduce the benchmark of hours and allow me to just fill them whenever I wanted -- so now I am basically getting paid less with a smaller window of hours, but I will still finish my work sooner than that window. I have flexibility but still feel like I don't have enough to do.

WWYD with this "free" or unused time?
