The hubs and I had a talk once and he said it pretty much just like @Mrs. Jacks. Work and most coworkers don't feel guilty when they leave you for their vacation. You have to look out for yourself or you'll get seriously taken advantage of. Because they are investing in you and you are showing you are worth investing in. If you are quitting, you should use the hours. They are yours and they don't know what your future plans are and have no need to. DH and I have had a similar discussion about my taking vacation prior to my maternity leave (although I will be returning to my current job). But I felt guilty if I had to go to an appointment during work hours - in the Army, on 12 hour shifts (you're not alone in work-related guilt trips). I will most likely be starting my "maternity leave" in early Sept--aka, I will be quitting. There is a chance that I may stay until I'm 37 weeks and then come back part time, but that's only if my boss agrees to that (will be discussing with him on Thursday). </p> <p>DH really wants to take a vacation this summer, and due to scheduling and other stuff going on, the only time we can do it is in July. He wants to take a full week off. I feel kind of crappy about taking a week off from work, causing people to have to cover my clients (I'm a therapist/social worker), when I know that I'll be leaving, most likely for good, in another two months). What do you guys think? DH says that I"m owed these vacation days, so I should use them. But I feel bad! :( </p>
