I would at least try to return it. If Target doesn't carry it, they won't take it back and then you could consider selling it on your own.

I would at least try to return it to Target! Even if it wasn't purchased there, if Target carries them, they should be willing to take it - they can always just sell it again! :)

I returned a bunch of stuff to babies r us, even though I didn't know if they were purchased there. As long as they carried it they were fine giving me store credit without a receipt :)

I returned some smaller items (books, shoes, sippy cups) to target even though I wasn't sure where they were purchased. It was fine since the items were carried by target.
ETA: the items were all duplicates

We were gifted a very generous, thoughtful item. We can't/don't want to use it with our LO. It wasn't on our registry but Target let us take back stuff through showing our purchase log, regardless of whether the item was on it or on our registry, for store credit.

I'm not sure if it was purchased at Target though. The gift giver doesn't typically shop at Target. It's sold there though.

I sent a thank you note, I really appreciate the thoughtfulness and I wish it was something we would use, but it just isn't, which is why we didn't register for it :(

What would you do?
