I had what my doctor called an arcuate uterus - not as big a dip as a septate but still substantial. My first two REs said not to worry about it and I didn't get pregnant for three years. My third RE said it might be the problem, I had a hysteroscopy to respect it, and I got pregnant naturally two months later. Unfortunately I lost that baby at 6 weeks, but I later had a successful IVF and an unassisted pregnancy. Both boys were breech but otherwise no problems. I genuinely think the surgery made the difference to my being able to get pregnant.

I have one but it is very minor. I did have complicated pregnancies, but we don't know if that is why. One thing I do attribute to it was that I had two babies who were both breech through my entire pregnancy. Never flipped head down either time! But I had two very uneventful c-sections and have two healthy little ones. Sending lots of positive vibes!

A friend of mine has this. She had one successful pregnancy. Her daughter just came a littler early I believe. Since she has struggled with several miscarriages. I hope everything works out for you! Lots of baby love!

I have a unicornuate uterus which is half the size of a normal uterus. At first, I was diagnosed with a bicorunate uterus and my OBGYN was not going to treat it any differently than he would a normal pregnancy. I'm currently holding my 9 week old. :) there are support groups on yahoo groups and Facebook that I've found super helpful.

I had a septum in my uterus. My RE discovered during a 3D ultrasound. He said it was best to remove it due to miscarriage and growth restriction risks, especially before I went through all the time and money of IVF.

I had hysteroscopic surgery to remove the septum months before I did my IVF cycle. It was quick, no incisions (they go through the vagina into the cervix with a camera). Recovery was easy - just a little cramping and bleeding like a period. I haven't had any trouble with my pregnancy so far and I am expected to have a vaginal delivery.

I had this. I did have trouble getting pregnant, but most likely not related to that (have a host of other more likely issues). I was able to carry my son to term without problem! Good luck!

My sister has this and is the mother of four living children (she miscarried three times)

She didn't have trouble conceiving until it came to her last child (she had two early MCs before she had him).

Her pregnancies for the most part were uneventful, but her children were born early (her first was 6 weeks early. others were 2-4). But they were all healthy even though they were early. We were shocked when her first went home two days after he was born.

@birdofafeather: yes I read that breech was extremely common too. I can handle that! Really all I google is anymore was anecdotes, but only scary ones!

my good friend had this and didn't have an issue carrying her son to term, but he was breech and never turned, so she had a c-section. her doctor said this was common, but i guess that's an anecdote.

Had a good HSG today but discovered I have a bicornuate uterus AKA Heart shaped or Y shaped. It was my OB's partner who did the HSG and he said this shouldn't prevent me from getting pregnant but will hinder my ability to STAY pregnant. Oh good, another thing to worry about before it even happens. :bummed:
Dr. Google was not my friend stating that 40% of people with BU will miscarry even into 2nd tri. That seems extremely high and now I'm freaking.
My OB is calling me tomorrow to discuss but in the mean time, anyone have BU or another uterine anomaly?
