That’s so exciting! Our childcare costs are decreasing slightly - $25 less per week 🤣. Next year we should be down to one childcare payment, but it looks like they’re changing bell schedules and if that’s the case we’ll have to add on after school care for two kids. ☹️

Woohoo!!!

We are getting a small taste of that this year as DS is starting kindergarten and we will only be doing after school at this current daycare which will save us $400/month. We still have a few more years with our younger DS at daycare. Eventually we may move to the Elementary' s after school program to save even more.

Yes love this little reason to celebrate! My older DD (6) just started 1st grade. 1st time since DD2 was born that we are only paying for one kid in care. Stupid pandemic stole that celebration from us last year as we ended up paying for full time care for DD1 despite being in K. This time next year DD2 will be in K and we will only be paying for aftercare/summer camp!

We have one more school year of daycare payments and I'm counting down the months! My youngest will be doing Jr. Kindergarten at his daycare because he misses the TK cutoff by 17 days. Thankfully my job has me working from home on a permanent basis so I no longer have to pay for afterschool care. That will save me almost $800/month this year!

@Anagram: My boys are also going into 1st and 3rd! I love the fact that we'll be paying less than $200 a week for both of them to do before and after school care right at their school. When they were both in daycare, we were paying more than our mortgage a month. Insane!

@Corduroy: it’s the best, isn’t it? Our high was 4k a month in childcare costs, back when we had a full time nanny and DD1 was in preschool 3 days a week, to this past year we paid $0 because we were all working from home due to Covid. I mean….we paid with our sanity.😳 but we didn’t pay money, so…silver linings!

This school year, I expect we’ll need 10 hours of care a week in after school help, but that’s not bad at all. One of the bright sides of the kids getting older. Our girls are going into 1st and 3rd.

For the first time since I went back to work after having my first baby in 2013 my childcare costs are going down!

Both kids will be in school, school is supposed to be regular full days. My youngest is out of Kinder so even he will be going full days. If everything goes according to plan we'll only be using care 11.5 hours/week. We've cut the hours down a lot since we're not tied to commutes anymore.

It felt like we would never get here but we're here! Seriously Covid don't screw with me on this. I need this.
