@Mae: That same "treatment" helped me as well (after a few gentian violet treatments failed and popping Diflucan like Pez candies). Cotton only, change liners frequently, always get out of damp panties or swim suits ASAP, and go panty-less when possible (home, pjs, sleeping naked, etc). New towel every shower, too, just because I'm paranoid. After I started doing those things, I haven't had any issues in a few years.

@Beyond2: With the cyclical nature you mention + eczema issues, I would look into gluten or sugar or some hormone + diet influence that may need to be switched up or removed.

My aunt likes to drink a rose petal tea to help with issues down there but I don't think it would fix it immediately though.

This might sound kind of crazy, but a friend of mine went through this and made an appointment with a holistic nutritionist. She cut gluten and refined sugars and it has been the fix she needed!

I haven't had this issue but I've had other recurring discomfort issues so I'll tell you what worked for me and who who knows… maybe it will work for you too?

After like 1 year of issues and finding no solutions with my doctor, she finally suggested the easiest answers ever: cotton underwear only, change it every time it gets even slightly damp (like IMMEDIATELY after working out or if its hot out etc), commando when possible, and sleep in nightgowns with no underwear. Basically she wondered if just letting things be more "free" down there would fix the issue-- and it did. As in, not a single issue in almost a year since I started this. Again, I know you have a different issue but I also know yeast also thrives in warm damp environments so maybe letting things air out more often may help somewhat?

@Beyond2: have you looked into the AZO yeast tablets? Also, has your doctor done a blood test to rule out other possible underlying causes?

@Brassgiraffe: Thanks for your comment, but I'm so sorry you have experienced a similar problem. It's so hard :-( I want to be intimate with my husband, but even worse than turning him down is having the pain that goes along with it :-(

@mrs. 64: I really appreciate you writing this! I will try that. I have tried the garlic clove inserted vaginally which does help, but causes more of the eczema problems for me afterwards because it is so harsh on skin. It's such an irritating problem that it seems no one can help with :-/ Sometimes I just feel so helpless with it.

I'm so sorry! I don't have any ideas but I can relate as far as having to turn down DH goes. I've had pain during intercourse for the good part of seven years now and haven't really been able to find a good solution. It's hard (and emotionally tough!) to have something so personal not working properly, not know how to fix it, and have it affect your relationship. Sending you a hug!

I pretty much could have written this post. I've had a serious problem with them in the past, but since going off bcp things have been out of control. I'm pretty sure I'm immune to diflucan at this point (which I know you can't take during pregnancy anyway) and the suppository medicines all cause terrible burning. I do have something I found on the internet that honest to goodness works for me if I get in a really bad place (and my gyn has confirmed that it killed the yeast before). You get plain (not vanilla) yogurt with live cultures and apply it topically to the area once or twice a day for about 10 minutes, sitting over the toilet, then rinse in the shower. For me I feel better after 1-2 treatments and then things are usually taken care of after 3-5 treatments (then start over again the next cycle unfortunately). I so wish you were gold because I'm mortified to even be writing this on HB, but I know how desperate a person can be in this situation! Good luck!

I have had a lot of trouble with recurrent yeast infections ever since I started getting my period. When I'm cycling I'm ok until I ovulate and then I get a yeast infection from ovulation to my period pretty much no matter what. Then after treating for a yeast infection it flares up eczema on my vagina which takes a while to go back to normal. My husband and I use the FAM so we really only have sex just a couple days before I head into my fertile time. With my first pregnancy I was lucky enough to only have 2 yeast infections the whole time. I'm currently pregnant with number 2 and have basically had yeast infection the whole time :-( I'm miserable. I've talked to my midwife and tried a whole slew of things but nothing helps longterm. It's miserable and our sex life is greatly suffering. I don't know what else to do. I take daily probiotics and have tried natural remedies and supplements as well. I'm at loss and feel awful always turning down my husband :-(

Does anyone have any ideas/ recommendations or can any one at least relate? :-(
