I was SO confused at first too and almost regretted getting it but now I can't live without it!</p> <p>So if you manually put in everything, you do not give YNAB any connection to any of your accounts. But if you do, everyday when you sign in, or even every couple of hours as you're signed in (as I am on my work computer), they will detect transactions from any accounts and all you have to do is hit "import" and all the transactions appear in YNAB. As time goes on it will even be able to categorize most of it for you accurately. I used to use Mint, which pulls all transactions in, and it was way to easy to just... not engage. And then I'd log in and get overwhelmed. You can import from your account, but it doesn't regularly auto-update anything for you. If that's the case, I'm not sure why I couldn't just input that myself. Does it interact (like I buy something so YNAB is alerted and I get a notification to add a transaction?) I'm so lost! </p>
