I used to work with a guy that used one - some people gave him a little grief, but other than that it wasn't weird.

And funny, because I was JUST thinking how uncomfortable my desk chair is getting!

@AmeliaBedilia: I got to help exercise my abs - but I can only use it for 15-20 mins at a time otherwise it KILLS my back!

A bunch of people at my work actually use exercise balls as their daily chairs, so no one would think it's weird here! I would just bring it in and say it's more comfortable to sit on or helps your back or whatever. I wouldn't think people would give you a hard time about it.

@Mamaof2: that is the most interesting chair I have ever seen!
I'm with you..if I sit on a yoga ball for even half an hour my back is aching!

I say bring it if it helps you! The only person who's opinion matters in this situation is your bosses - if they don't care, then go for it! :)

I think that's totally normal. As long as you aren't pairing it with yoga moves on the floor, it's totally understandable that you are 34+ weeks pregnant and need some back relief stat.

I would just tell your coworkers that you are trying to last as long as you can at work and that between the heat and being so pregnant, you have to concede where you can. If that means sitting on a yoga ball, so be it

We have someone here that uses one, but our office is pretty casual so no one really cares.

I have this one - no one said anything - but it actually HURTS my back if I use it too long!

I thought it was pretty common to sit on yoga balls. There were several men in my last office that sat on them all day for their backs, too! I would just go ahead and bring yours in!

I brought one to work briefly to help my back out before pregnancy. People did think it was strange, but I just said, "Honestly, this is not the weirdest thing we have at *company*." I've seen a lot of people do it at other companies, so I wouldn't worry about if it is "unprofessional." It's a seat, and you aren't coming to work in yoga pants and a tshirt.

I used one even when I wasn't pregnant. I had my own office, but people would often comment on it. I just said it was more comfortable/ helped my back not hurt, and people seemed to think it was a good idea.
I also liked it because I would kind of bounce all day long....mini workout! And when I was at the end of my pregnancy I used it to try to get her into the right position, which failed....but it was still way more comfortable than sitting in a chair all day.

In my third trimester now and would like to consider bringing in a yoga ball to sit on for work. I feel like its maybe unprofessional?

I'm in a private cubical, but I just feel like people may look at me funny for having a yoga ball here. But the obviously will see why when they see I'm carrying a basketball in my belly.

Anyone else? Tips for how to explain to co-workers?
