Thanks guys. I cornered the teacher and told her. It wasn't as bad as I thought. She said I was able to do everything we were going to do, but to take a break if necessary. We did do a couple basic twists but I just kind of skipped them because they made me nervous.

Is there a way that you can talk to your instructor privately before class and tell her then? I think it's safe, but I understand your hesitation.

I did yoga throughout my pregnancy, including the first trimester. I would definitely tell the instructor because there are certain twisting poses and stretches you shouldn't do.

I did! Regular yoga that I had been taking before. I talked to both my doctor and my yoga instructor about it. My doctor strongly encouraged it actually, and said there is very little a beginner at yoga could actually do to hurt themselves or their baby. I talked to my yoga instructor about it and she confirmed there is nothing we do in our beginners yoga class that would hurt me or the baby. The big concerns are that you get dizzy more easily so be really gentle with yourself and sit down if you get dizzy. I had to do this a few times the first trimester. Also when you get bigger your belly gets in the way (just now affecting me) and you need to modify poses to make them work.

Did anyone do yoga during the first trimester? Did you attend regular or prenatal yoga? If you attended regular, did you tell the teacher you were pregnant or just refrain from doing certain poses?

I'm 6 weeks and was planning on going to yoga tonight for the first time since I found out I was pregnant. Everything I've read said it is safe in the first trimester if the teacher knows so that you can refrain from certain poses. Now I'm worrying that maybe I shouldn't go. I don't really want to tell the teacher and I really don't want anyone to overhear that I'm pregnant. Obviously I feel like I need to tell the teacher if I go because I don't want to do any poses that would hurt the baby. I'm not ready to go to prenatal yoga because we have only told immediate family and I wouldn't want to bump into anyone I knew. Advice or suggestions?
