We first did Yo Baby yogurt. We recently switched her to the same Greek yogurt I eat. It has mixed in fruit, but the usage isn't horrible but she needs the protein more then anything.

We buy baby yogurt- either Liberte or the Danino baby- it's really thick and low sugar but still tastes good!

We use full fat Greek yogurt. Normally Fage or Trader Joe's. We mix it with a little applesauce to sweeten.

We do stonyfield farm organic full fat plain yogurt- I couldn't find an organic Greek one, but the Greek does have more protein. My friend found that different "full fat" Greek yogurts had different fat levels so that's worth checking on the labels. I'll try to remember the highest fat one.

Oh and we usually do plain since she likes it, so why add the sugar? She eats a lot of fruit too, so I don't bother with the flavored kind, but when we are on te go I get the to any pouches- she likes the mango best I think. I like plain unsweetened yogurt so I guess it's less surprising she does too.

We prefer Greek because it's thicker and sticks to the spoon better. LO is three so sugar is a concern for us. We buy the lowest sugar content Greek yogurt. This isn't really your concern.

We did start with the stoneyfield and yo baby varieties before 1

@oliviaoblivia: Oooh those smoothies sound really good. LO hasn't mastered the straw yet, but once she does I'm definitely going to give those a try (and I'll drink it if she hates it!).

@abbydabbydoodlebug: We send yogurt to daycare for breakfast so it's easier just to send the YoBaby cartons that don't require any mixing, but I'm definitely going to try Greek yogurt + purees at home!

@oliviaoblivia: that's is what I'm looking for. Trying to get the biggest impact as possible.

@tinyperson: @tysonja: I haven't heard of that brand. I'll have to see if they carry it in my grocery store. Sounds like a great yogurt though!

@lawbee11: I was thinking of adding puree to it too. Sounds yummy. My DD loves pear and peaches.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I hope she's able to tolerate it too!

I always bought plain full-fat yogurt for my daughter before 1 :) Greek yogurt is good for extra protein too. I would add in some puree to change things up sometimes but she was fine with the plain flavor. I give her yo-toddler now but I don't really like that it has added sugar!

@lawbee11: for a long time I added fruit purée to the regular plain (tart!) Greek yogurt. Now that she's older I add frozen berries and blend it up for a smoothy, or give her a high fat vanilla flavored one. A little more sugar than I'd like, but by far not the worst thing in the world.

we like greek yoghurt because it has more fat and protein per gram. (read the labels, there are a bunch of fat free greek yoghurts out there, as well as different amts of sugar/protein per gram etc). I think the full fat liberte greek yoghurt is probably one of the best for low sugar, high protein/fat. they have it in organic and non organic.

we like to use some fruit puree mixed into plain full fat yoghurt to give it some flavour :). I just get a jar or pouch, and it lasts in the fridge for a few days of yoghurt eating :)

We use a Liberté Baby Yogurt because it's high in fat and lower in sugar -- and she likes it and eats it, which is probably the biggest reason to keep feeding it to her! (Not sure if it's just a Canadian brand or not.) If we could have found a readily available high-fat Greek yogurt, we would have gone with that - Greek yogurt has more protein than regular yogurt.

Greek yogurt has more fat and protein than regular yogurt. When DD was little I wanted to make sure every mouthful packed as big a calorie punch as possible.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: We give LO Stonyfield YoBaby yogurt. It's made with organic whole milk. LO loves them all, but banana and mango are her favorite flavors. I think some people give Greek yogurt because it tends to have less sugar, but I'm not that concerned with the amount of sugar in YoBaby.

So I think I want to try yogurt on my Mspi DD soon. I've had all dairy (except straight milk and butter) and soy and she hasn't had a reaction so my pedi said I could try yogurt and cheese on her. I know a lot of moms use Greek yogurt, but is there a reason for that? I pretty much want to get the highest fat content because my DD is little and she needs all the fat/calories she can get. Could I get regular full fat yogurt or is there a certain kind that's better than others?
