Is it also for the care workers? I saw a program on the BBC where there was a child pornography ring working through a daycare center.

They got busted because one of the women taking the photos inadvertently photographed the logo on her shirt!

I don't think the rule is TOTALLY necessary but I kind of like it. If people can't detach from their phones for two minutes to drop off or pick up their LO, that's their problem. And it would definitely make me feel better as a parent to know that there aren't random photos of my baby floating around (I'm one who doesn't post photos of her on FB and wouldn't be happy if others do). I know I can't control it forever, but I do think limiting phone usage in the facility is a fine idea for that reason as well as for making sure the parents are giving their full attention while there.

I kind of like it. I'm not that over the top with photos of my LO, but I understand people who are. It's a privacy concern and they're obviously taking it very seriously. I'm thinking that it had to come from another parent, and if they're taking that parent's concern that seriously, it would make me feel really good about the daycare and that my concerns will be taken just as seriously.

Yeah seems a bit over the top but I know some people are very protective of photos of their kids. So, say a parent took a photo with a couple of the kids in it then posted to Facebook or whatever. Wouldn't bother me but I know people who don't want their children's photos on social media at all.

Still seems over the top but then again, my fb is annoyingly full of C's smiling little face.

@yoursilverlining: Hahaha! Yeah, maybe!! I'll keep an eye out for Angelina Jolie and her brood!

Yeah, I really, really don't mind the rule!! I just think it's bonkers! Like the fact that they don't serve beef to the children because of the decades old BSE risks and the recent horsemeat scandal. They serve quorn instead!!

I think it's a little overboard but maybe they had parents who sued them over something photo related?

I think the rule is somewhere in between your poll options ;)

I don't really see the need for the rule, but it also wouldn't bother me. I've never seen a parent on their phone at dropoff/pickup, though I'm sure it must happen?

Our daycare sends out daily photos via email of all the kids in the classroom, so it seems a little weird to me to be so worried about privacy? Hey, maybe some celebrity babies go there or something!!!

We took DD for a tour of her new nursery (daycare) today. It's really lovely and I'm sure she's going to love it there (although mummy is going to miss her so much!).

When we arrived, they told us that our mobile phones must remian in our pocket/handbag at all times and if either of our mobiles were to ring, we must not answer it inside the nursery - but we were welcome to step outside to take the call. I didn't mind but I had to ask why this was ..... Apparently it's because most mobile phones have cameras now and they couldn't risk photos being taken of the children.

Again, I must stress that I absolutely don't mind this rule but I do think it's a bit over the top! There is a separate baby changing room with a door on in each of the nursery rooms - so at no point were any of the babies undressed or anything..... It's a secure building and the only people who will be in the rooms with the babies are other parents and daycare workers......

I'm just wondering, out of interest, what the thoughts are on here?! Is this a rule you would be glad your daycare enforces or do you think it's a bit over the top? Would you be upset if you discovered that another daycare parent had a picture on his/her phone in which you could see your fully clothed LO playing with their child?
