I totally get this frustration! Fortunately it just takes me 10 minutes to decompress so I tell my husband that and he understands.

@macintosh: awwww..... How old is your baby/child?

Sorry I don't have any helpful suggestions but I share your pain. At least he just want to talk and not having sex, seriously. My DS is now 4.5 years old. It got worse for DH and I because now he complains that we don't have time to chat, we don't have time to connect, we don't have time to "get intimate". Apparently it bothers him so much and he is very unhappy because I don't have time for him as I used to, but I really only have so much time.... :(

@Jackiedavis87: I love that you gave your husband "the look"!

I think everyone is a lot happier if they have some time to decompress. I usually can decompress in the car on my drive home from work. But my husband has a much shorter commute than me. I have had to learn to "enjoy the silence". Its taken a long time. :silly:

@LuLu Mom: this! I say the exact same thing and he knows what's up! Lol. One time he followed me in the bathroom, and I gave him "the look", he realized the error of his way lol.

I usually say "I'm going to go take a bath" and that's my quiet/relax time. He knows when I need a bath it means i need some me time.

@agold: same...when DH comes home first stop for him is PTI...Pardon the Interruption. If I watch it with him I know to be quiet or ask my questions only during the commercials.

When I need quiet I just as sweetly as I can let him know I am half paying attention. Sometimes he gets frustrated, but typically he will surf his phone to come up with more things for us to discuss.

I have days like that. I think DH can tell because I give short answers and don't really engage in the conversation.

Ahhhh... that sucks. But its usually the opposite situation in my house! :silly: I've just had to learn to respect DH when he wants to relax. I usually know because he turns "sports center" on TV or something like that. Can you just tell your hubs that you want to relax your mind for a bit and maybe go take a long shower?

Your SO wants to chat. Ugh! I hate that this bugs me so much cause I feel bad for not wanting to talk. I think I posted something similar when DS was a newborn but it still happens now.

After a long day at work, or even just a few hours of running around, making dinner, and putting DS to bed, my brain needs a rest, you know?

How do you tell your SO nicely that you don't feel like chatting? I know he gets bored so I don't want to hurt his feelings.
