I continually got collect calls from the Cook County Jail. I obviously wasn't going to accept charges just to say they got the wrong number. One time, the guy yelled "pick up the f-ing phone!" when he was supposed to say his name. My HMO always makes it a point to ask if they can leave information in a message on your voicemail so I'm sure they had discussed it to some extent. He sounded distracted because he started the message with "Hello Cord- (long pause, paper shuffle) Hello Susan, your results are in and ..." I forget the exact wording but it was a lymphoma diagnosis. I looked up the doctor's name and it matched a legit doctor in my HMO. I didn't call back since there was no number and I didn't find one quickly. I would have if he had left a number. Someone from a car dealership called my number to tell someone their license plates were ready. I called the dealership back and let them know they called the wrong number.
