Perhaps it's a developmental milestone. How is her language? Is she starting to talk in sentence form yet? It might be that she's going through a language burst and this is how she's coping?

I hate not knowing what's causing sleep issues or them not being able to tell us what's wrong!

@2PeasinaPod: @newlypregnantlady: @josina: @youboots: Thanks for the commiseration, it's the worst... no ear infection, had her checked, but may be teething. Ibuprofen's not doing anything, but maybe it's just a combo of it all. Hoping tonight's better!

It's worked for us- CIO does not work for T. Now that she's older we just go in and explain that it's bedtime and that we won't take her out of her crib. It took a few nights but she's back to STTN since October. She will just scream for less than a minute then go to sleep. But if we don't go in she cries till we do. We never pick her up unless we can smell a dirty diaper. We did this to stop MOTN wake ups

My DS went through some separation anxiety around 18 months where he would scream/cry at bedtime. We had to lay with him until he fell asleep. Eventually he grew out of it again and would go to bed on his own just fine.
(of course at 26 months he comes to our bed around 11 every night but that's another issue!)

No suggestions just commiseration. My 18 month old has been up crying for several hours in the middle of the night since last week. I'm a zombie! Sleep issues are rough.

Is it possible she has an ear infection and it's hurting her when she lays down?

Is she getting teeth? All hell breaks loose whenever either of my kids are getting teeth. So much so that we just go into survival mode. Just recently, our 16 month old started sleeping consistently through the night.

My 21 month old has decided to stop sleeping. She's been a great sleeper since about 5 months when we did gentle sleep training, but in the past 2 weeks she won't nap, or go down at night. She screams and cries for over 30 minutes at a time without letting up, until eventually one of us goes in and attempts to soothe her (which sometimes works, sometimes doesn't). She literally has been up until 9:00/10:00pm this week, sobbing. We've tried changing naps, keeping naps the same, doing the same routine, trying a different routine, we even took off the front rail of the crib and nothing is working. Any suggestions?
