We are taking DD the first week of February for her 2nd birthday. I know she won't remember it but I think it will be fun and us and her grandparents (my inlaws are coming). Kids under 3 are free, and we are planning to share our food with her (meal plan). At the buffet places they don't mind if you get them their own plate so I know we are doing a few of those.

We don't plan on taking her until age 4. We've been to other amusement parks (like Lotte world in Seoul) at age 2 and 3. Both times were fun but she was pretty overwhelmed and got scared easily at age 2. She was only able to really enjoy about 2 hours before she got tired and exhausted.

We took LO at 2.8 years and she definitely, absolutely loved it! :) And the surprising thing is, so did we!!
I was NOT a Disney person at all when we begrudgingly took her. I just wanted to get the discount (2 year olds are free) and get it over with! :)

Something happened while in the parks! DH and I did not believe in Disney Magic or anything (LOL!) but it was AMAZING!! I'm hooked, as in addicted, and haven't looked back since! LO is looking forward to it too...but I think I'm most excited. I love the planning phases. So go if you want to go with LO...or go even if you kinda don't want to go-like me the first time with LO- and see how you like it! :)

We took my son at 20 months and he LOVED it, then took him again at 2.5 and of course he loved it then. My 6 month old daughter came with us for the second trip and while she was just along for the ride most of the time, she definitely enjoyed seeing everything.

We just took both kids at just under 3 years and 6 weeks old. It was exhausting but really fun. DD1 hated some rides we thought she would love, was freaked out by Mickey until the end of day 2, loved meeting princesses, loved the light parade, passed out in the stroller both days from exhaustion. The 6 week old was the easy one! 😜

we live near disneyland so we had season passes when dd was 1-2 yo and ds was 0-6mo. ds obviously didn't care but dd liked taking it all in but it was hard to go on many rides since its always so crowded and hot in the summer. it wasn't until she was a little past 2 that she really got more into it. we didn't renew after that because it was harder to find time to go.i think now at 3 she'd love it, but we'd have to buy her own pass which would make the passes so much money! so maybe in the future we'll get passes again!

If you are going as a family early on anyway, an infant and toddler would enjoy it. Bonus is that they are free until they turn 3 years old, so it wouldn't be an extra expense UNLESS you were planning the entire trip around them. If that was the case, I would wait until they were a little older to invest that much towards a trip.

I think DS was just over a year old when we started our annual passes. He was walking well and the weather was cool-ish. He loooooves it and now and at almost 2 is very aware of the rides, parades, characters, etc. Also, our kids nap well (2+ hours) in the stroller so I think that plays a factor. Don't wanna be dealing with overstimulated kids!

We'll take LO3 as an infant since we go anyway and I don't want to leave him with anyone, but our trips will probably be more low-key. Sometimes we just do a few hours/couple rides. I think Disneyland is rather baby friendly since you can babywear on many rides and they have the Baby Care centers.

Sorry if I sound like a killjoy, but I grew up living down the street from Disneyland and had the "wonderful" task of having to usher every visiting family member through Disney my whole life and it led me to decide I will not take my kids to Disney or any large amusement park until at least 4 or 5 years old. Especially because the parks are even bigger and crazier and WAY more expensive than when I was a kid! The lines, the heat, the exhaustion, the expense, the pushing and minding of strollers, the tantrums, the long hours, going on a handful of boring, nausea-inducing rides (teacups, Dumbo, etc.) No thanks! That said, I am introverted, dislike crowds, and my son seems to be an introvert as well.

I know people who have taken their babies since infanthood to Disney and have loved it, so do whatever your family will find enjoyable. I just don't see the point in spending so much time and money on things he doesn't understand or appreciate yet. I might consider going earlier if my son was like REALLY obsessed with a character or something, but I don't really think you are that cognizant until you're closer to 4. Plus they don't remember until then anyway!

I do think its different for local folks who have an annual pass and can go whenever they like. Then its more like an activity you can do whenever, like ice cream and parade lights on Wednesdays, or family dinner and rides on a Thursday or something. But for like a big trip or something, I would totally wait.

@looch: I was going to make the point about characters and how it depends on your LO's personality. We considered going at 2.5 but our daughter was terrified of characters so we decided it wasn't worth it. Now that she's closer to 3.5 I know she would love it. But she has to wait because now her baby bro is here and he's too little to enjoy it 😜

We took our son at 2.5 and then again at 3.5 and I was shocked at what a difference a year made. At 2.5 for example, he was terrified of the characters. At 3.5, he was able to get pictures with them all.

We are taking DD this March for her first time at 2.5... That's when my parents started taking my sisters and I and they said it was good age. I'm not expecting to be able to do everything that I'm used to as an adult, but I do think she will be able to enjoy it. I can't wait to see her face when she meets Anna and Elsa!

Our 5 month old will be staying home with my ILs though, because I have no interest in bringing a newborn to Disney!

We took LO at 14 months and she had a BLAST. She loved people-watching, loved touching things and had fun on several of the rides looking at everything. She also fell asleep and could be easily worn on more adult rides, like Pirates.
