Well, kind of opposite, but I have a Chloe (dog), Bailey (dog), family cat, Coco, and SIL had a Kasey (dog).
When I met DHs extended family, I was kind of shocked b/c his cousins daughters were named: Bailey & Coco.
Then his other cousin had twins and named them Chloe & Kasey.
It's always a hoot but one time his cousin's wife asked me why my dogs were all their kids' names! I had to say that our pets were ALL older than any of the kids! (so really, who is who's namesake? lol!)

I go back to visit my old job pretty frequently, and have become friends with the girl who replaced me.

At my most recent visit, she told me she and her husband adopted another puppy... and named her Khloe.

We got a good laugh out of it. My dad is her boss, and she said even her husband said, "We can't name the dog Chloe... that's Bosses granddaughters name!"

I agree with @meredithnyc. I am a huge animal lover and all of my dogs have had "human" names (Sophie, Miley and
Maddy), which I see nothing wrong with. I'm actually pretty offended that I would be called "crazy" on here because I have loved an animal very dearly (i assume you would also think crazy because im a vegetarian). As someone who has had a very special pet who they loved with all their heart, I'm sure this lady meant nothing but a lovely compliment to your daughter. My feelings would have been really hurt if you had laughed in my face. Granted, I would not say that to someone, but I do think of my sweet girls when I hear their names being used.

I would take it as a compliment if someone said their pet had my daughter's name. It means that they like the name, doesn't it? No one would name their pet a name they hated.

Growing up I named my cat Chelsea because I thought it was the most beautiful name I had ever heard. If I ever ran into a girl named Chelsea I might tell her it was my favorite pet's name.....I just wouldn't tell her I came home to that pet lying dead on the dining room table.

Heck, I have Sawyer now, and still think my dog is as precious and wonderful as a child.

It is a funny comment though, I don't think I would be offended if someone laughed if I said something like that.

I am also 'one of those people' who give their pets human names, my whole family does. My families current dogs are Charlie, Hailey, and Callie. The cats are Mikka, and Millie. In the history of my family, there are many many awesome names that went to the dogs first (LOL).

As a pet lover, I totally get it! And I think it's sweet. However, it's probably unlikely that I will ever meet a child named Phyllis - hahahaha. But often, when people meet my dog they're like, "Oh,my mom/grandma/aunt's name is Phyllis." The worst is when we meet someone named Phyllis - I feel kind of bad about it for some reason, like what if they think we're insulting their name by choosing it for our bulldog?

My parents' dog has the same name as my BIL's sister, who he doesn't like very much. Their dog is really bad and we are always yelling her name and BIL thinks it's funny :) She was a rescue and came with the name though.
I don't think it's weird to have pets with people names, and I probably would mention it if a friend or friend's kid had the same name, but I wouldn't say it like it meant so much, more like a funny coincidence. My dog's name would be a trully ridiculous person's name.
