Also, I found ways around my parents' rules all the time, so even if I set hard-and-fast rules for my kids, I know there's no guarantee those rules will be followed. I didn't want to date until I was in high school (that's a lie- nobody asked me out before then!) so there's a chance that will happen with LO too and I won't have to worry about dating too young.</p> <p>If she does want to "date" in middle school, it will only be group dating. But I don't think I was really allowed to date until 16. I think once your kid can drive and basically do their own thing without you, then that's when they probably can date.
