Not a favorite, but I have distinct recollection of getting earrings for Easter one year (I was probably 3rd grade) and I passed out putting them in. I really have no recollection of what caused me to pass out, but I did.

My favorite, is that we had "baskets" that were homemade/custom. They were used annually. I still have mine and my Mom found someone to make them for my kids. I had to paint them and decorate them, but they were wood worked to match mine.

@bushelandapeck: I love that your baskets were hid. So were ours, but that seems very atypical amongst our circle. My DH thinks it's ridiculous.

Mine was the year my parents hit eggs around the house and inside each each was a piece of a treasure map! Then we had to figure out how to put the map together (like a puzzle). The map eventually led to where they were hiding our brand new bicycles! It was so cool!!

My mom hid our baskets by putting clues around the house. She is a retired teacher so she always made the clues into these cute little rhymes. Every year I say I'm going to do something like this for our kids but I'm just not nearly as creative as she was! I also have fond memories of Easter dinner at my grandmothers house. It was one if the few holidays each year that I got to spend time with my cousins.

We had Easter egg hunts every year as kids and my parents would just hide the eggs around our house. My brother would get up super early and just walk around finding all the eggs so that as soon as we started the hunt, he'd already know where they all were. That wasn't fun for me at the time, but we laugh about it now.

When we were old enough to know there was no Easter bunny, my parents continued the tradition of the egg hunt simply because it was so fun. My dad was a little too good at hiding the eggs, and we had many years where we'd find a random egg somewhere in the house in July.

We're Russian Orthodox (think my Big Fat Greek Wedding, only Russian!) and we do midnight Easter mass. Afterwards, we bring giant baskets of food to be blessed and break the fast by having a giant party. It usually goes until the wee hours of the morning.

Some of my favorite memories were in college when friends of mine would come to the Easter services. They're pretty long, but the party after is very worth it!

@youboots: that's so cute! Picturing hopping little bunnies around colorful eggs.

@Mamaof2: aww nice! We tried to get in to that this year and didn't make it. How did the kiddos do with the crowd?

So mine isn't from childhood but last year - we finally got tickets to the White House Easter Egg roll and I think I was more excited than the kids - It was awesome and President Obama read during our time slot - that was cool! DS wasn't impressed though - he said he just looked like a regular guy :silly:

We always had pet bunnies. So having them playing in the backyard made Easter extra fun.

Inspired by @mamaof2's candy question. No matter how you've celebrated Easter, what's a favorite memory from the Easter holiday?

Mine was the year my older sister hid eggs in the house for me and we played hot and cold over and over again. It was special to me because we fought a lot at that age, but looking back it nearly gives me tears that she entertained me even though she felt too old for festivities.

Share yours. :)
