@grizz: when did your Lo start eating pinwheels? I thought my Lo would be too young but she's just a little younger than yours.

C is only one but we do lots of cheese sticks or cubed cheese on the go. I try to have fresh fruit or a pouch too.

We do a lot of meat/cheese/crackers, fruit kabobs, veggies with hummus/dip, we also do tortilla rollups/pinwheels. LO loves them (and they are easy enough to make and snack on. I also make a black bean and corn salsa that is really yummy.

Pinwheels or just "roll ups" (like a taco) are a great idea. Even just basic peanut butter and a banana would be a great lunch!

A lot of time when we are out we just do an assortment of snack s and call it lunch.

- Cheese Sticks
- Rolled up lunch meat if you like that
- Crackers
- A couple jars of fresh fruit (blueberries, grapes, apple slices, etc)
- Granola bars

By the time we usually eat all that we never really miss a real "lunch".

@Mamaof2: We do this too!

LO also loves chicken salad - especially with grapes.

Pasta salad, hummus and veggies (or chips) are also big hits and travel pretty easily, especially if you have a cooler.

Also,my LO *loves* cashews. They are not enough by themselves to constitute lunch, but they have more calories and good fats than some other snacks.

We take carrot sticks with dips, chickpeas, fruit... It's hard right now because LO wants nothing but PB&J at every single meal, so we pack a ton of stuff that doesn't get eaten.

My son loves pinwheels - whatever kind of tortilla or wrap spread with hummus, deli meat, and whatever kind of veggies. Roll up and then slice.

We are huge fans of the cowboy salsa you listed - I make it almost every weekend for something to snack on!

We are out and about a lot on the weekends and I would prefer to take lunch with us (at least for our toddler) than eat out. I'm looking for some new ideas other than chips and sandwiches.

I recently found Cowboy Salsa, which looks like a good item to throw into the cooler. Any other suggestions for healthy things to take with us for a day out of the house?
