Yep, I try to give the "fuller" things like cereal or bananas before bed. I also noticed an improvement when I went from 2 to 3 solids meals. like your LO, my almost 8 month old started waking 1-2x overnight when teething and I noticed feeding her more spread out: lunch, dinner, then before bed, had her back to sttn most of the time :)

Sadie never eats much, and still sleeps very well. BUT, I notice that I can go right to sleep after a big meal... food coma! So, there must be something to that. ;)

@Sammyfab: Good point! Maybe I will try more fats as opposed to carbs for dinners.

I am pretty skeptical of DH's carb dinner idea so it's good to hear that others haven't noticed a major difference. I kind of just think our LO is a mixed bag when it comes to sleeping and that's just the way he is. I will try offering just a little extra at dinner to try and prevent him from waking up hungry and if it helps - great - but I'm not going to expect anything.

It doesn't make any difference for us...especially because I can't force my son to eat if he's not hungry or interested. Dinner has always been hit or miss in our house.

And generally, carbs don't fill you up for long periods of time...protein and good fats do as they take longer to digest.

No difference. Even when LO doesn't eat much, he still sleeps well.

Last night was a rough night in general because he got zero naps during the day and then slept badly at night. He ate tons and still had trouble sleeping.

Nope. No difference here. LO is 22 months old. She still wakes up once a night a few times a week.

Yes, it makes a difference to us. DD used to STTN, but started waking up hungry between 5:00-6:00 AM after we weaned. On the days I feed her a lot and give her extra WCM at bedtime, she STTN.

Not at 11 months but def when they get older. If my 5 yr old doesn't eat a snack before bed he wakes up early and hungry!!!!

I haven't noticed any difference. DD was never a great sleeper, and my MIL always blamed it on our not giving her cereal and solids super early. It didn't change when we added solids, and it didn't change depending on what she ate. I think it was just luck and time.

DH is convinced that if we feed our 11 month a dinner full of carbs he will sleep through the night more often. We all eat dinner around 6:30 and he usually just gets some of whatever we are eating. DH's theory is based on the fact that one night we had breakfast for dinner and had pancakes and potatoes etc and he slept really well that night. Last night I gave him some extra crackers w/ peanut butter after our normal meal and he slept all night too. (maybe it's just giving him a big dinner in general?)

As far as the usual sleeping pattern: LO was great about STTN at one point then when he started teething he went back to waking once or twice. Since then it's been on-and-off. Most nights he wakes up but occasionally he will STTN - I attribute a lot of it to teething/being sick/being a normal baby.

Anyone notice STTN improvement when LO eats a big dinner?
