Thanks everyone, I knew I could count on you. DH generally doesn't handle DS' crying well and is having a hard time adjusting to the fact that DS is different than DD was at this age. We had to supplement DD with formula by now because I wasn't producing enough BM but I have been working very hard this time to just BF.

Wow, it was just a one time wake up... We are all entitled to fuss sometimes, especially six month olds! Doesn't mean anything about our breast milk!
Everything I've read says the opposite, breast milk changes over time to accommodate changing needs!

I would've been pretty peeved if DH said something like that!! (Sounds like P's last pedi) Generally breastmilk has more calories than most solids (ie. 4 oz of green beans has 70 cal vs 80-88 in bm) so that's generally a very untrue statement.

Babies wake all the time for various reasons having nothing to do with hunger, remember nursing is about more than just nutrition! Plus food before one is completely supplemental. You're doing great!

Uh, my DH said this last week when L was going through his 6 week growth spurt! He wanted to give him formula. Um...no.

Hugs, I was told this by my daycare lady. Regardless, we're still sending him to daycare with breast milk. Our peds did warn us that my milk may not be enough for him around 4-6 months. We're still working on keeping him on breastmilk as long as we can.

Wow, I would have smacked my DH.

There are a lot of reasons for a fussy baby at that age. They are more active, the solids are new on their bellies, etc!

DS is going to be 6m this Saturday and in the past two weeks has been a little fussier/hungrier than usual at night; I think it is a growth spurt and possibly teething. We started solids and have been giving those to him at what would be our breakfast/lunch/dinner times. Last night I was home with the two kids by myself and didn't feel like making solids so when DS started fussing, I nursed and then put him in bed (he fell asleep nursing). Well he woke up about 3 hours after nursing and was fussy, when I was nursing him again DH made that statement. I just looked at him dumbfounded.
